American dance moms - how expensive?

Just nosy really.
my alogorithm has started showing me lots of dance competition videos and the comments are always alluding to just how expensive it is over there.
I know UK has dance comps and it can add up but I get the impression it’s another level in the US.
Can anyone shed any light on just how much it can be?

I guess the group lessons, the private classes, the clothes, the competition fees, the travel to competitions, the performance outfits... I'm going to guess $8k a year.
