Does anyone use voice mail

Neither DH nor I use voice mail on our mobile phones and haven't for years. MIL was giving me a hard time about this yesterday. Explained I haven't used it for years which was followed up with numerous questions about if someone needed to leave us a message. I said they will either call back or leave a text/whatsapp. I asked if she uses it and she doesn't!!
Not sure what the issue is really but it really rubbed me the wrong way!

Technology moves on very fast and there'll come a time when your own children will be exasperated by you wanting to use outdated tech simply because you're familiar with it.

I remember having to set my grandmother's central heating every spring and summer, tune her television in (with a dial!) and setting a VHS video recording up for my mother.

I don't use voicemail and only in the last couple of years started using WhatsApp.

I have a few elderly relatives that prefer to leave a voicemail if I don't answer. It makes life easier for them and not a big deal to me so still use it. Being honest though it is very rare that they leave one.

Plus ça change. My 19 year old has started leaving us voice notes on WhatsApp instead of just texting.

I rarely leave answerphone messages, I tend to just text as I think it's easier for the person to access but I do occasionally receive them still. What were you being berated for exactly, if she was not trying to leave you a message?
