USA/Canada - polite topic - what about that winter weather?

Dear North American mumsnetters - what is it like where you are? What are you doing to prepare survive Storm Fern?

Beautiful and sunny here on Canada West coast. Had some lovely temps last week 10 & 11° A little colder this week around 6° but rain and no snow yay. 1st I'm hearing about storm Fern.

Currently -27. Just your average winter in northern Alberta!

I’m in New York. It snowed at the weekend and we have a massive storm on the horizon on Sunday and Monday. It’s absolutely bastard freezing, yesterday there was a low of -18°c. It’s warmed up a bit today but it will be back to horrendous in no time. The city is very pretty in the snow but it’s totally impractical.

I’ll be complaining about how hot and humid it is soon, though.

-2 to -4C in the interior of BC. What snow/ice we had has mostly melted back the roads are clear.
that being said, I’m a huge Costco fan and maintain a fully stocked pantry.
Tons of experience with power outages, and hunkering down for days on end.

-6 and snowing here in New Brunswick. It's going to get pretty cold over the weekend (predicted -30 with the wind-chill). We prepare for storms by stocking up on storm chips and ensuring there's gas for the generator!

Currently -31C here in Winnipeg. It’s going to be like this until Monday when it warms up a bit. It’s annoying but it doesn’t stop anything in the City.

Southern California, has been lovely recently . Days of 18-25C highs with cloud and sunshine. No rain for the foreseeable. Utah ski resorts have barely any snow. And too warm to blow it. Weather is crazy at the moment

It’s been bright in Chicago and tomorrow with windchill is going to be-31. The schools have been shut making dc very happy.
After a few mild winters it’s rather nice to have a proper Midwest one again.

We've had 4 snow days (no school) this week and another forecast for tomorrow! Eastern Ontario.

Currently -42 with the wind chill. No such thing as snow days here, but I am driving DS to school so he doesn’t have to wait for the bus.
