Now that January is nearly over, what are you most excited for this year?

I despise January, and I’m so glad it’s nearly over. I can’t wait for spring to start and for this horrible grey weather to be gone.

Excited for? Or about?

Excited for? Or about?

Does it really matter?

My friends coming to visit in September. They are from US and Canada. We met on an online forum in 2003 and stayed in contact since then. I’ve visited their home towns and now it is my turn to host!

I'm not really one to look ahead, I just take each day as it comes & be thankful for that. I do have 2 short breaks coming up in this country, one with my best friend & one with dd2 so that will be nice

DH really hasn't been well recently, so looking forward to a more normal life and hopefully 100% recovery for him. The more normal life includes a log cabin we stay in every winter (which he now feels up to) and camping with friends in the summer. I don't like winter, but I do love to see snowdrops, followed by spring flowers and spring itself.

First family holiday abroad this year. My youngest has never been on a plane!

We also have a UK break in May to look forward to.

I have put it all my annual leave requests so have a nice chunk of time off during each school holiday with the kids.

Looking forward to warmer weather, things flowering and more greenery to appear.

I try not to think too far ahead though or wish time away. I'm mainly just trying to enjoy the moment so to speak.

I am just looking forward to gaining more distance from my shitty past so taking each day as it comes and being grateful each night that I get into bed after a peaceful day. I have done alll the therapy & now I just need peace. And for it to feel "long ago"

(I am well aware I am wishing my life away for this but I do need peace from a traumatic childhood and subsequent life events! By Summer I'll be feeling brighter for it!)

The smell of spring. Being able to run on my lunch breaks without being rained on or freezing cold. I love the spring (more than summer)

I bought 2 half-price & nearly dead pink azaleas last summer, so looking forward to seeing them bigger & flowering in June. Also camping trips when the better weather comes. And drying washing on the line.

Just joined an outdoor local sketching group so looking forward to going out with them

Taking an online collage course which begins February 7 for the fun of it!

Holiday by the sea in April!

WorthySloth · 22/01/2026 10:57

Loads of gigs. At least one trip away each month until the end of August and starting to look for things to fill up the autumn 😊

The final film in the Lord of the Rings trilogy with full orchestra and choir in March. We loved the previous two. The choir especially are incredible.
