Would you Airbnb your entire home?

I’m just looking options for when I go off travelling.

I don’t particularly need to. I just think it would be interesting. The House swap thing really appeals but what about all your personal items? I mean let’s not go there with the cupboards that you have to literally hold shut But I would have to deal with that beforehand

I don’t really have any lockable storage that I could put very personal or valuable items in

Just thinking out loud and wondered what everyone else thought really

Sounds like a lot of hassle. Who would come in between bookings and clean etc? Or do you mean short term when you go for a week or two?

There are also insurance implications but you could hire a small storage facility for personal items if you think it’s worth the bother.

It’s very stressful.! There are lots of new laws about fire doors. You need very specific (expensive) insurance.

If you are thinking of a house swap rather than Airbnb then that is different and would not be via airbnb

Either way it’s a lot of stress and hassle and not interesting at all.

What are the laws about fire doors? I vaguely think about it. I know lots of people who do it every summer & camp/live in their van/with relatives.

It's only worth it if you live somewhere where you could make a high amount of money and can deal with the changeovers and cleaning easily.

A friend of mine does it twice a year for a month at a time for two huge events in her area. Her sibling also does it. They all pile into her mothers house, it's absolute chaos for each of those months, but they make so much it's worth the hassle as they're gaining a large chunk extra to put into their mortgages.

It wouldn't be worth our while at all.

They've got to be able to withstand fire and smoke for 30 mins.

I’m guessing not many people are changing all their internal doors when they air BnB their houses out. But it is the new law since April this year I think.

Thank you! It’s a hard no from me 🤣
