Could I have broken my finger or knuckle?

I tripped the other day and had to put my hands out to help stabilise myself. Since then my middle finger and knuckle are really painful, not all the time but almost. The pain isn’t unbearable and there is only minimal swelling and slight bruising but I cannot bend my finger without it hurting and the knuckle is painful to press on. I’ve only ever broken my little toe which was very painful but this isn’t as bad, more a gnawing pain and also tenderness. Could I have broken my finger or one of bones in my hand do you think? I’m trying not to be overly concerned but it’s painful to drive and even just do very light chores at home. My dd says I should go to minor injuries for an x ray but I’m worried they’ll think I’m a big baby!

You could have done so. I recall breaking a finger as a child. I was riding my bike in hot weather when I fainted and fell. It didn't hurt terribly but it was broken. Would be a good idea to go to a Minor Injuries unit and see what they say? Better to know than not, never mind what they think!
