The thing is, everything I’ve been told about BB when he would have been around 15-18 was that he was super lively but very quiet and passive.

May well be. If he has tendencies for anxiety that is still a possibility. Plus people can be absolutely charming to the external world.

My YP is a delight at school and with friends and externally but can be a right pain in interactions internally with the family. Guess that's his safe space so I understand it.

Bruisername · 22/01/2026 10:45

All the photos from that time at premieres etc show him being very passive to his parents.

I know we all read these stories with our own biases and as mothers feel for VB. but this does sound a lot like blaming him when he had such a messed up childhood

And you know this how?

Have worked in media relations for decades and know how it transacts.

I expect the Beckhams have paid him to do that video.

I doubt it. It paints V&D as low aspirational parents by Nelson. I also read the Vogue piece from their wedding where the mother had sewn some cringe quote into N wedding dress. Struck me as very enmeshed and narcissistic. Seems N has been assigned a specific role in her own family around her acting career. The Peltz seem to have very high achieving children maybe they are very demanding etc but they appear as a family to be private. Compared to the Beckhams who don’t seem to value hard work and achievement with their DC - just shallow facade and publicly. Very different family values and backgrounds - both most likely extremely dysfunctional to a greater or lesser extent.

Imdunfer · 22/01/2026 14:20

I've only just spotted the outfit that Victoria wore to the wedding. What on earth was going on there?

A dress that looked like what you'd wear to bed on your wedding night, in a colour as close to white as you can get without being accused of wearing white to someone else's wedding.

Uh?

Bruisername · 22/01/2026 14:24

It was an odd choice but it seems to be her style (cross ref the Ramsay wedding)

apparently the mil also wore silver. May google!!

It's silver? Just looks like a floor length silver dress to me: bit strappy but nothing inappropriate (strapless would have been ok) and very long, not overly revealing.

Bruisername · 22/01/2026 14:28

It’s more that it looks like a nightie - but that is her style

the length makes it look difficult to dance in!!!

It looks exactly like a nightie, including the thinness of the material, and silver shines as white when hit by light.

MidWayThruJanuary · 22/01/2026 14:34

Read this in the Independent. It's spot on.

“Being the child of a celebrity is not privilege – it’s pre-ownership,” says PR guru Mark Borkowski. “From birth, your name is metadata. Your adolescence is content. Your mistakes are monetised by strangers and quietly risk-managed by family advisers. You grow up fluent in exposure but illiterate in autonomy. By the time you’re old enough to choose, the brand has already been chosen for you.”

And they are doing it now with Cruz and his music.

Oh I dunno, she seemed to manage ok 😂.

Actually Nicolas expression on this one could make it an actual photo from the wedding!

Surely with the pick of the crop in wherever they live and the circles they move in if the strategic plan was to go for a big name I think they failed?
Surely no one knows.bb in the states ??

They could have gone for Hollywood , musicians we tx big fiancé...

diddl · 22/01/2026 14:50

I was thinking that the Peltz family probably think that she has married down!

Ebok1990 · 22/01/2026 14:51

landlordhell · 21/01/2026 20:50

VB in navy blue at the most palace/ royal events- so boring and not the best shade for her colouring. She has no idea about style.

It's come to something when a woman is criticised for wearing navy blue. Dear god.

Emilyinspace · 22/01/2026 14:51

I would fear for Brooklyn Beckham. I don’t disagree that bringing up your children in the public eye is poor parenting but this reeks of him being turned by Nicola.

For everyone cheering him on , what happens to him if/when she leaves him. I doubt Nelson Peltz will be looking after him (why would he??) and likely Nicola will have an iron clad prenup.

Going public about your parents marriage is a shitty move.

Bruisername · 22/01/2026 15:08

I agree he’s gone from one toxic family to another

but I think with the peltz’s they are fiercely protective of their kids and he probably sees that and wonders why his parents constantly throw him to the wolves

i would hope, as with any adult, if his marriage ends he will look after himself rather than expect his parents to step in.

Justdancevance · 22/01/2026 15:33

Llamma · 21/01/2026 15:56

Yes indeed. I can’t buy her clicks or media profile. That has to be earned organically or latched on to in this case.

Peltz was involved in a hostile takeover of Disney (losing out eventually but netting 1bn profit in the process but you think the family were in awe of the raggle taggle chavtastic Beckhams 😆

Tableforjoan · 22/01/2026 16:41

I can believe Nelson thinking wtf! But clearly supporting his daughter.

Not sure on the video on the whole however.

Thing is we will never know but if those are BB’s genuine feelings that’s that really doesn’t matter what D&V did or didn’t do in their or the publics eyes he was left feeling that way and tbh the fact that D&V haven’t told the press to back the fuck off from their son leaves me feeling more on his side.

Truth or not they are happy to let the wolves have him.

Calliopespa · 22/01/2026 18:36

Ebok1990 · 22/01/2026 14:51

I thought that too. Its about the most subtle, least attention-seeking and elegant choice she could manage.

I am not really all that impressed by the Beckhams, by their style, what they do, how they do it, any of it. Just not my thing. But when I read these threads I find myself feeling defensive simply because people just go so far too far in looking to attack her for anything.

I thought the silver dress wasn't exactly classic mother of the groom in its negligee-like elements, but have to say it was well-made, she wore it well and I thought the fabric was quite something - and not too bride-like at all. You needed a nice demure little jacket though V! Could have slipped it off once things loosened up.

…when, surely? At some point they are going to get very bored of each other, as all it looks like they do at the moment is turn into stuff to pose for fairly miserable looking Photos.

Gowlett · 22/01/2026 21:31

It could just be the difference between a UK wedding & a US wedding. I’m sure the whole day was highly scheduled, every move orchestrated. The meltdowns & wedding planner drama beforehand. Wedding dress-gate. When I read that the Peltz side were silent & the Beckham side cheering, after the “dance” I suddenly remembered the US wedding I’ve been to. Everyone just got in their car & went home after dinner… Mad.

No I don’t think they were in awe of them at all - I think Nelson and Claudia would have looked down on them as Beckhams are very low shallow aspirational for their DCs whilst the Peltz are very high achieving children. But IMHO NP thought she needed the massive instant SM reach that the Beckham brand allowed her to access for her own career trajectory (which hasn’t happened because she has zero talent).

Calliopespa · 23/01/2026 00:27

I think there has been too much over-looking the fact BB and NPB are two young people with blood in their veins.

It's a normal human thing to fall in love and I'm not sure any of us know enough to say they haven't.

There is a rather unkind assumption on these threads that it is all strategic, when in fact love makes people do some of the least strategic things they ever do.

Bruisername · 23/01/2026 07:12

Given the kickback against the statement and the continued drip of negative stories about Nicola I can’t see that this was done as a good PR move!
