Male celeb who helped female celeb at awards show?

This is really silly, but it's driving me mad!

I have a vague memory of a female celebrity, maybe an actress (?), tripping or falling at an awards show, I think on her way up to collect an award. It wasn't Jennifer Lawrence. There was then another famous man, possibly an actor, who went to help her up. He started off with his arm outstretched, I guess to take hold of her, but then he turned his arm over and offered his arm to her instead so that she could choose whether she needed his help or not. I can't remember whether she took his arm in the end but there was lots of discourse in the media afterwards about how gentlemanly it was and how he considered consent etc.

Does anyone remember this/know what I'm talking about? Who was it?? 🤣

I know it isn't what you're trying to recall, but all I can think of is Judy Finnegan's 'wardrobe malfunction', where John Leslie went up to try to spare her blushes. Not that he's a 'good guy' at all by many accounts.

Jessica Chastain and Paul Mescal?

takealettermsjones · 19/01/2026 13:48

I don't think it's Paul Mescal...

I thought it was Andrew Garfield, but google doesn’t seem to agree with me.

Zendaya also said 'no thanks' to someone, because she was having no problems getting onto the stage. I think the arm was offered to show gentlemanliness. Can't remember whose arm though, sorry.

Henry Cavill offered an elbow to Millie Bobbie Brown at an Enola Holmes thing.

It's nice to offer. I offer to help people getting on and off buses: the elderly, the wobbly, with prams etc. And I'm a vagina owner!

I don't think she fell though, i think her dress split was a bit too high and she was faffing with it so he offered her an arm, he seems a good lad he also escorted Betty White onstage she was getting a lifetime award "somewhere.

I think it might be a combination of no bannister and heels that offers of help are offered, these steps are a death trap.😀

In my head it was Hugh Jackman.

Hugh Jackman rushed to help Jennifer Lawrence when she tripped on the stairs while walking up to accept her Best Actress Oscar at the 2013 Academy Awards
