Im 39. About 2 years ago I started with torso only night sweats! I had bloods all okay. Seemed to settled now they've come back with avenegence. It happen about 3 times a week and i wake up wet! Im on cerelle pill as I dont tolerate oestrogen well. Pcos diagnosis but stable. On escitalopram 10mg OD for 4 years. Gymming it 4 times a week. Could this be peri or my medication??

Discuss again with your GP, they may want to arrange routine blood tests to exclude other causes

TinselTina · 18/01/2026 19:15

Im on escitalopram and when I Googled about 10 percent of people have sweats but I've been on it 4 years ! Maybe I'm peri?

I only get night sweats that start at my kidneys. They wake me up

I’m right in the thick of Peri so I presume it’s that. Periods are occasionally missing a few times a year now too

giveyourselfapresent · 18/01/2026 19:57

I've had a few of these the last few months, but I am nearly 47 so I assumed it was perimenopause-related. I wake up with my collarbone and boob area wet. It's not that frequent, though, at the moment.

WhoWouldBeAWoman · 18/01/2026 20:21

I get sweaty on my upper chest/decolletage, my pj's are often damp in just that area, no sweaty pits, sometimes I get a sweaty groin too. Delightful.
I'm 45, been on HRT a few years, symptoms started at 40, I think. Had a dose increase about a year ago as I noticed the sweaty nights were increasing, along with other symptoms returning, and it settled down again but not gone completely.
More often than not I'm just hot at night. Not sweaty, just like overheating, especially my feet.

Thanks everyone. I did wonder about coming off my pill and seeing where my cycle is up too aswell.

Watching with interest, I thought this was just me!

I will wake up with my front drenched- the rest of me is fine... head, face, back, limbs all normal temperature and dry. But my chest, under my boobs and midriff is on fire and wringing with sweat! Urgh.

Trinity69 · 18/01/2026 21:29

I’ve had night sweats like this for years. All tests and investigations done and no reason found. My body just gets sweaty at night it seems!

Yep…exact same here. Age 40. Not on any contraceptive.

Ohcrap082024 · 18/01/2026 22:07

Yep, have had this off and on for at least 6-7 years. Will wake up some nights sweating but just from my collarbone down to my belly button. Mostly just my front. It has much improved since being on HRT.

100Otters · 18/01/2026 22:52

Probably Peri but check your mattress and bedding. Memory foam mattresses give me sweats and so do the plastic mattress protectors they have in hotels

TinselTina · 19/01/2026 08:23

Thanks all. The gynae i saw 18 months ago advised my bloods showed i wasn't peri. The sweats are intermittent. He advised the combined pill so im covered for pregnancy and have some protection for bones etc. Put me on yasmin that gave me migraines and made me feel so ill. I have looked into a lower oestrogen pill. I may come off cerelle and check my periods then if needed go on low oestrogen pill?

I had it from around age of forty. It only stopped when I went on hrt at 46 so I assume peri. I was fobbed off by drs.

jamandcustard · 19/01/2026 09:02

I get this, but for me it’s medication and PCOS related. It’s horrible! Blood tests all clear.

Moon30 · 19/01/2026 09:06

I started with night sweats about a month ago, i wake up drenched and have to change my top and shorts. I'm 42 next month and have put it down to perimenopause, as my periods are heavy one month and barely last a day the next month. Although the last 2 nights I've not sweated, so I dunno 🤷‍♀️
