Any plumbers about to answer a question please?

Hello!

I am looking to get a kickstand heater added to my cupboard bases, connected to my central heating system (water)

I have a question, the red on the guide are my cupboards.
The purple is where my old radiator was and fixings.

There is the backdoor seperating them.

Would the kickstand heater have to be connected to where the old radiator was? That wouldnt be possible because of the backdoor seperating them?

The boiler is the robot.

Also would it be very expensive for a plumber to do this? I am on a small budget but i dont have tokm for a radiator and my kitchen is freezing :(

I'm not sure you will be able to get that sort of heater fitted in that position. The kind of heaters fitted there are usually electric fan heaters. These should be much cheaper to fit too.

But much more expensive to run.

There are loys of hydronic kickstand heaters available. I just don't know if they need to run from where the radiators valves are or if they can run from the sink water works or something from the boiler?m

you’d be cheaper working out why the kitchen is freezing and fixing that. Have you any ideas?

So I am trying to find an alternative heating source

The radiator had to be removed to accommodate a chest freezer (yes absolutely needed due to eating disorder/disability) and that is the only place in the kitchen it can go.

Obviously a radiator behind a chestfreezer doesnt work. So for 2 years Ive had no heating in the kitchen and Ive had enough.

I cant do under floor heating and discovered kickstand heaters

id prob just end up with a plug in oil filled radiator in the middle tbh. Not helpful i know, but i think youll struggle to get a plumber to add to your housing association central heating system without permission, especially as it’s not a straightforward radiator or whatever. sorry.

I've had private plumbing work done upstairs (made a utility room in an old cupboard) and they didnt even ask about ownership.
HA inspection was a few months later and they said what a good idea it was to do that. So don't think they're arsed.

In principal yes it can be done, the easiest way will be to lift the floor boards upstairs and get new pipes run down the wall, then behind the cupboards. Those sort of heaters are fan assisted so you will need access to electricity as well. Alternatively if the kitchen floor is not a concrete slab, the new pipes can run in the void under the floorboards. In a previous house I had a similar heater, wall mounted in the hall and it was surprisingly efficient for a small unit, the fan runs when there is hot water passing through, so once it's installed it looks after itself.
