Inspired by another thread about a documentary about women who were catfished by a “rich, good-looking man” who turned out to be none of those 3 things. Got me wondering if anyone’s been catfished online and how it happened?..

Not romantically but as a teenager I had an online friend who used someone else's photos and made up stories about her life. She was very insecure. I still wonder what became of her.

No but I watched the documentary you are talking about - shocking she is seriously mentally disturbed, i felt really sorry for her family too who seemed really normal and just as shocked as everyone.

I've had someone send me photos via IG DM, they had to be stock photos, way too perfect. I screenshot to try and do a search but didnt realise it informs the person you have screenshot 🙈

It’s called the beauty queen and the catfish. On iplayer I think. It’s an insane story. Really interesting though
