Metformin - higher heart rate/anxiety attacks?

Anyone else had an issue with this? Just started it and hr a bit higher on watch. I would say up by around 20 bpm. Then felt like I was having the start of a panic attack.

No, I can't say I have. The side effect I was most warned about was the possibility of severe stomach upsets. Luckily I didn't get them either.

No and I take 4x 500mg daily.
Hope you get to the bottom of it op.

I take 3 x 850 metformin daily AND I have a heart arrhythmia, but nobody has ever suggested that the two might be connected! By nobody, I mean my GP, my diabetic nurse, my cardiologist, the doctors in the Emergency Department, anybody who has anything to do with my medical history.

I have also never read anything that suggests there may be a correlation between metformin and heart conditions. There is, however, a correlation between diabetes and heart conditions, I think.

Thanks all. I had reduced a beta blocker to swap so it may be that. Most of what I read says M should be more likely to reduce anxiety.

am nervous about starting anything new as it was a med reaction that initially landed me in hospital and then years of steroids.

Will update if I find anything out.
