iPad freezing and running slow, is it time for a new one?

Bought it in 2020. Plenty of memory space left. Updated and all apps updated. Deleted any apps I don’t use.

Sometimes it’s fine and sometimes it can take a few minutes to open a page. Or it opens half the page but not all of it. Or I can’t scroll.

i can normally temporarily fix it by forcing a restart but sometimes that only works for ten minutes or so.

i see a new ipad is being launched in March and the cynical part of me wonders if Apple are slowing my iPad down on purpose so I get a new one.

I absolutely believe that Apple knobble your device to force you to buy a new one.

I bought my iPad in 2020 too. Use it a lot. Do you close all the apps or just change apps? Also, do you make sure all the updates are done regularly?

Close all apps, update and double check you're not low on storage. Never Hurst to delete unused apps and content. There's also a factory reset as a last option.

Me, I'd book a free Genius Bar appointment at the nearest official Apple store and get it fixed. Even if it's a good journey away it's cheaper than a new one

Also, if it's only when you're browsing Chrome, could it be your internet?

Have you checked the storage? It is probably full and you need to delete some videos or downloads. I bought my iPad in 2020 and it is still running as it always has. Google the problem and they will tell you what to do. Look at storage and you will see where your memory is going.

Storage is fine. It’s half empty. My phone and laptop seem ok so not sure it’s the wifi. I might try a different browser.

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

I know it is an IT cliche but I have found it helps if my iPhone isn’t running as well as it should.

I see you say you have forced a restart but have you just tried normally turning it off?
