My absolute favourite book as a child. I re-read it over and over, beyond when I was too old for it, I expect.

I see they've made a film....am I going to be disappointed?

There is a trailer and Moonface is a crescent 🌙 in top of his head not a big round face!! I’m already outraged!!

I was disappointed with that too, it's just wrong!

Adored Enid Blyton books as a child . I assume I will have to lower my expectations for the film , but will be going to see it anyway .

Just watched the trailer - looks fun

I'm over the moon(face) because my 18 year old son has agreed to watch it with me when it comes out!

My eldest is 14 and is so excited to go see the film. We’ve seen the trailers and yes it’s definitely an ’inspired by’ modernised version of the book, so I’m really hoping my daughter enjoys the film as it’s her favourite childhood book. It’s out at the end of March (in time for Easter school holiday) for anyone who doesn’t know.

I’m reading this to DD now, it’s Joe, Beth and Frannie in this version that I got just before Christmas.

I loved the books too as a child

I’ve just re read the same version to my daughter. She loved it too

I loved this book and loved reading it again to my children. Obviously it is seriously dated but I thought it was still so magical and imaginative.

I’ve seen a trailer for the movie and although the interpretation of moon face is disappointing, it also looks very lovely and magical.

I adored the book. I don’t think I’ll like the film, I dislike that it’s been modernised and all the jokes about wifi and electronics, just feels like it takes the magic away but I hope I’ll be proven wrong.

Malory towers is a series on the bbc now. It's very very good and Gwendoline is brilliant. A star in the making.

I was obsessed by the Faraway Tree, think I knew it by heart at one stage. Totally uninterested in a film though. Perfect book indeed.

oustedbymymate · 14/01/2026 22:41

My ds is very excited for it. He’s 6 and listens to it on yoto every night

Chilliandbanana · 15/01/2026 08:48

My absolute favourite book as a child. I will watch it but am also worried it will be rubbish. Off to watch the trailer now…….

Skybunnee · 15/01/2026 08:52

I loved the book - those sweets that fizzed up in your mouth - can still imagine them. Moonface-weird but not creepy (I read it over 60 years ago btw so might have misremembered it)
