How much swelling to expect after a wisdom tooth extraction?

Had a wisdom tooth out on Monday. My cheek/jaw/neck is quite badly swollen, and still getting worse. Extends from my cheek to jaw and over half my neck. Feels warm but not hot. Am taking antibiotics to prevent infection.

So, how much swelling is normal, and when will it go down? I can’t open my mouth much, it hurts to swallow, but I’m not in that much pain. Inside my mouth feels fine.

Light hamster, I found.

If you're on ABs you should be OK? Your description of it going down into your neck sounds slightly more than this, but I would only worry if I was not taking them.

I had a lot of swelling. And i could really tell as the line from your nose to your mouth (whatever that’s called!!) was really wonky 🤣

Yeah, I said yesterday I had gone full hamster!

On a positive note, the line from my nose to mouth has disappeared on one side, as has the line down from my mouth on that side…

My sister had quite a bad time with wisdom tooth extraction and she said a week was when the worst of the swelling was gone.

I recently had jaw surgery and I would say peak swelling was day 4.

The swelling is extending right down my neck now. Slightly concerned…

Anyone else? The swelling has got worse over the day.

My son had this happen. Went to GP who said it was infected. Gave him antibiotics

I’m on antibiotics already, to prevent this…
