The recent game threads have been fun and see to have garnered a bit of interest/frustration in equal measure so here's another one...

If you already know the solution then please don't reveal it straight away.

Somebody pushes a car to a hotel. When they arrive there, they become bankrupt

What is going on?

Missed the "edit" window. You can ask yes/no questions only.

Ah, I know this one so I won’t post, but following to see what everyone else thinks!

TheCommonWoMan · 13/01/2026 16:56

Yes, I know that one too!
We need a harder one!

user1471538275 · 13/01/2026 16:58

They might have walked their dog there instead of taking the car.

Fopar · 13/01/2026 16:59

@user1471538275 I think I would take issue with the dog being "walked".

I don’t know it and I also have no idea. These kind of abstract rather than logic things really evade me.

BakeOffRewatch · 13/01/2026 17:10

Does the person live in that town?

Fopar · 13/01/2026 17:13

@BakeOffRewatch - not necessarily.

I realise that that isn't a yes/no answer, but it isn't relevant to solving the puzzle.

I will ask a question that may help others.

Had they run out of petrol?

Bowing out as I do know this one and similar.

Fopar · 13/01/2026 17:25

Excellent question @TheMoanerLisa No, they haven't run out of fuel.

I've just realised that I won't be on MN much this evening or tomorrow, so maybe those of you who know the solution could jump in for the new players so that they don't feel ignored.

I think there is a chance that I have figured put the answer.

Clefable · 13/01/2026 17:27

Ooh this one was immediately obvious to me so I’ll stay quiet Grin

CarminaBiryani · 13/01/2026 17:29

I hate these as I take everything literally 😂

Chickenwing2 · 13/01/2026 17:30

I just asked ChatGPT- very clever 😁

Nosejobnelly · 13/01/2026 17:32

Think I got this straight away!

Not really in the spirit of puzzling!

Dollyfloss · 13/01/2026 17:35

I’ve guessed the answer I think.

Does it involve money? Lots of lovely money?

Acunningruse · 13/01/2026 17:37

I love games but am hopeless at these sort of riddles.

Has the person commited a crime?

PhantomOfAllKnowledge · 13/01/2026 17:48

Oooh, I think I have just worked this out! I'll keep quiet for now but will answer yes/no questions.

PhantomOfAllKnowledge · 13/01/2026 17:48

Acunningruse · 13/01/2026 17:37

Has the person commited a crime?

No.

Acunningruse · 13/01/2026 17:49

Do they owe money to the company who owns the hotel?

PhantomOfAllKnowledge · 13/01/2026 17:57

Acunningruse · 13/01/2026 17:49

Do they owe money to the company who owns the hotel?

Yes, in a manner of speaking - but why?

AgingLikeGazpacho · 13/01/2026 18:00

Is their car very small and very shiny?

Fopar · 13/01/2026 18:02

@Acunningruse

No crime has occurred
The hotel isn't owned by a company

@AgingLikeGazpacho may or may not be shiny, but definitely small.
