How to deal with office chatterboxes?

I work in an open plan style office, we all have assigned desks. I sit near two people who talk constantly for the whole 6 hours both staff members are in work and the topics of conversation are ridiculous, today has been childbirth, stool samples and cannibalism.

If it was in drips and drabs, it would be fine but nothing is work related and it is constant.

Managers has been and spoken to them before and it has been ignored and the members of staff been frosty with the office for the few days afterwards.

How would you deal with this? Besides the obvious of wearing earphones (bosses don't like us wearing earphones in both ears as we get phone calls from clients) Its not just me that is being bothered by this but myself and colleagues are getting to the end of my wick.

surely you can see your phone flashing if you get a call with headphones in. just do that

This should never have gotten to this point, it's what managers are for. I am all for a chat at work, and about all different subjects. But if it is affecting other peoples concentration it should've been nipped in the bud already. Ultimately they are being paid to work not to chat their whole shift. It's unprofessional. If needs be anonymously escalate it to the higher ups

Blue tooth headphones that pick you your calls

I don’t think headphones are a good solution. What if clients on the phone are hearing this total shite? It will damage the company’s reputation. Manager needs to manage. Separating the chatterboxes who have zero boundaries on what’s appropriate in the office would be a start.

I couldn't stand this and I don't think headphones are the answer.

Don't they have work to do that they should be concentrating on?

I'd ask for a desk elsewhere or to WFH as I can't stand constant talkers. So disruptive to everyone around them.

I never put anything in or over my ears, ever.
Especially, if I was at work all day. No way…

I had two colleagues who were talking all day.
When they were asked to shut up, they’d just move it to emails / messages & be bitching away about us all.
