Basically what the title says!

We want to get away for one night for dhs birthday - cute cottage, log burner, nice long walks. There's five of us; me and dh and our three dc (so will need a minimum of two bedrooms ideally three).

Where have you been that matches the description - please share !

Just been to such a place in the Cotswolds

firstofallimadelight · 12/01/2026 21:41

We stayed in a cottage in the Lake District exactly as you described. It was in Milburn in the North Lakes

What’s the point of going for one night though? Most holiday cottages have a minimum three night let. It’s just not worth the bother of travelling there .

ItsOnlyHobnobs · 12/01/2026 21:46

Where in the country are you/how long do you realistically want to be travelling for a one night stay?

What’s your budget?

justasking111 · 12/01/2026 21:48

You'll have to pay for a minimum of three nights renting. I'd find a lovely old Inn for one night.

freshnewstartahead · 12/01/2026 22:42

We can't do three nights , possibly two at a stretch due to work, and study commitments for eldest.

Budget can be flexible but nothing too giddy

Cotswolds. A village called Wichcombe.

Hopefully this worked www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/36311349?viralityEntryPoint=1&s=76

You want a Landmark Trust property - https://www.landmarktrust.org.uk/

freshnewstartahead · 14/01/2026 13:34

@GidgetGirl wow love that site ! I've had a good trawl through it but nothing available in the Lake District unfortunately - we've narrowed it to down to Lake District now. But will certainly bookmark for the future - thank you x
