Waitrose No Meat

Scottishheather52 · 12/01/2026 11:18

I ordered for delivery for the 1st time last night. Not one pice of meat was delivered. Apparently unavailable which is rubbish because even the delivery guy said they were confused because there's meat in the store. It's quite obvious to me that even though I bought very expensive organic meat it made no difference they are clearly keeping it for walk in customers. Shame on you waitrose. Will be giving my money to a better store than you. Also their duchy brand is a joke!

Try Ocado if you can get a delivery. Very rarely any missing items and any subs are sensible. Even my Christmas order only had one or two subs.

Perhaps their meat fridge broke down?

Been ordering from Waitrose for many years and never had this problem m. However, I did go into my local branch the other day and the fridge with the ham etc had broke down so I couldn't buy that.

Mulledjuice · 12/01/2026 11:59

How is it "obvious"?

Annoying but what benefit would there be for them to deny you the meat you ordered, rather than someone walking in who could choose + pay for something else?

Why on Earth would Waitrose do that? A sale is a sale whether it is on line or in the shop.

Whatever the reason for no meat in your order I am very, very doubtful about this being the "obvious" reason!

HoseGoblin · 12/01/2026 15:20

Why do you think the meat being expensive and organic makes a difference 😂

If they've not got it they've not got it, doesn't matter how expensive it was.

Scottishheather52 · 13/01/2026 12:40

Only one constructive response. So thankyou. I did say the delivery driver said the meat was in store. So the rest of the comments clearly aren't capable of reading properly but quick to answer with stupid comments.

Perhaps you didn't read what I said. So I'll repeat! 🙄 The delivery driver said the meat was in store.

I worked for waitrose for many years , and can assure you that you’re talking rubbish , why would they not want a sale ? They don’t hold anything back for in store customers , what a load of twoddle !
So the driver was there at the exact moment the picker was putting together your order ? Usually takes place at around 4am so unlikely that driver started then 🤦‍♀️

bugalugs45 · 13/01/2026 12:46

Also what’s a better store than Waitrose ? Apart from M&S which is on par , but they don’t do online delivery lol ( Ocado doesn’t count )

Scottishheather52 · 13/01/2026 12:46

What's wrong with you? I just said the driver told me the meat was in store. Did u understand yet??? People are so brain dead these days!

OP posts:
Scottishheather52 · 13/01/2026 12:49

There doesn't have to be a better store. Their all rubbish! Better off going to the butchers quite frankly!

OP posts:
bugalugs45 · 13/01/2026 12:50

I can assure you that drivers don’t go around the store checking for out of stocks , but you think whatever you like , as they say can’t argue with stupid as they bring you down to their level and beat you with experience 🤣

Scottishheather52 · 13/01/2026 12:51

Why on earth can't you take in my post properly? Driver says there's meat. Duh!

How does he know the particular brand of meat you wanted is in store? I mean, why would a delivery driver think "oh they have got Duchy Original meatballs in store". I mean, it doesn't make sense.

JohnBullshit · 13/01/2026 12:59

It's always annoying when part of your order is out of stock. It seems like an odd thing for the driver to say. I know different shops manage home deliveries in different ways. My Sainsbury's delivery doesn't come from my nearest store, but the Morrisons one does. So the Morrisons driver sometimes picks up items that are shown as out of stock on my email receipt, if he sees them arrive before leaving the shop. I don't know if that's meant to happen, but it's definitely the better way around for me.

IHeartJeff · 13/01/2026 13:14

I actually know the answer to this! Source: DH is a supermarket delivery driver.

The stock is allocated for dotcom and the store, so stock in the store isn’t necessarily for dot com deliveries. In his store they don’t have pickers any more and a machine does it all! The machine that packs bread under watermelon or eggs under heavy things.

At Christmas when there were 100s of bags of carrots for 9p or whatever in store there were dotcom customers getting no carrots because they were ‘unavailable’.
