Help! How to engage my grandson who is happiest on his screen and refuses to do other activities without a battle. My separated son has same problem with him and desperately wants to provide a more stimulating environment. He is now in secondary school having been excluded a lot from his junior school. His reading and writing skills are very behind. We are not short of activities for him to do and both his parents have really tried on this front.

I am thinking if we can’t get him off his screen are there games that would be beneficial and advantageous for him. Also would additional professional help us to help him have a more well rounded childhood. It just does not seem very healthy and we are desperate to know how to help him. He is also beginning to gravitate to playing out on street corners and mixing with older kids. He has his EHCP.

We want to intervene before he goes off the rails.

Have you and Dad learnt about ADHD and self regulation in ADHD?

We control screen time for both our dc but especially for our 11yo ADHD ds. Everything is password and app/time protected.

He reads and plays musical instruments. He's still difficult and overstimulated.

Today he was sent off to school without his phone for breaching screen time limits. They need more boundaries not less if they have ADHD.
