Hey, im going to be recovering from a op soon and wanted some book recommendations, main criteria is that it hooks you in early, I seem to get a bit bored otherwise and can't always get into them, and ideally on kindle unlimited, maybe something crime/dystopian? Thanks

Not sure about Kindle Unlimited but Jane Casey’s Maeve Kerrigan crime series is really addictive. Starts with The Burning, which ultimately isn’t the best one but they keep getting better and better after that

A Thousand Splendid Suns (by Khaled Hosseini) remains my all time favourite book.

Aside from that there's just too many good books to mention but if you've not read Hamnet yet then do before you go see it in the cinema, it's excellent. Dystopian - I loved The Passage and Station 11

Wishing you a successful op and a speedy recovery Flowers

I'd probably reread all my childhood favourites. But I take any excuse to read them!

For crime, probably any of Ian Rankin’s.

For light relief and a comfort re-read, Crampton Hodnet or Some Tame Gazelle, by Barbara Pym.

My forever favourite book is A Suitable Boy, by Vikram Seth, but it’s around 1400 pages.
It was adapted for television a few years back.
I’d also recommend the Jackson Brodie series of books by Kate Atkinson - crime, sometimes dark humour, a bit quirky and very absorbing.

Either The Left Hand of Darkness or The Lathe of Heaven by Ursula Le Guin. Both superb and lead into her other books and short stories (also try the story compilation A Fisherman on the Inland Sea)🌊

Thanks everyone in going to look them all up
