Wwyd - trying to pay an invoice

A big group of us went away before Christmas to a European city. Accommodation was booked though the rental agency website. The booking website did not ask for a credit card for payment or security.

Between booking and getting there I spoke with the agent once and emailed twice asking for payment details. None appeared. On arrival we met the agent to be let in and I asked him again to email me the invoice and payment details. We left on 22 Dec. He finally sent me the invoice on morning of 23 Dec. I realised when making the bank transfer on the afternoon of 23 Dec that two characters were missing from the IBAN. I emailed straight away to say the IBAN was incomplete and asked for the correct details. (I can guess what they should be, but I'm not risking sending €4k without being told explicitly what the correct details are.)

I mentioned to dh today that I still haven't heard from the agency. He thinks I should email again. I'm fed up asking and think if the agent can't be arsed with his business dealings, why should I chase for a sixth time. The money is set aside to pay the invoice whenever I do get the correct details so that's not an issue.

What would you do? And how long would you give it before going shoe shopping instead?*

*Obviously I won't go shoe shopping, I need a new handbag.

I'd do one more chase and make it clear I wouldn't be chasing again. Keep a copy of all correspondence.

I'd send one more email requesting the full details, and state that you will wait to hear from them.

Then it's firmly in their court.

Yes - firm e-mail requesting details and stating you won't be contacting again.

Interesting. I really thought a total of five requests was enough.

It is. But I think an email making it clear the ball is on their court now and you won’t be chasing again would finalise my correspondence with them.
