I have a 10 and 12 year old. What do your weekends tend to look like as a family if you have children of a similar age?

Saturdays are usually the same, DS plays football and DD goes horse riding. DH takes DS and I take DD. Sundays are a bit more varied, today we had people over in the morning, often the DCs have friends round or go to friends’ houses, sometimes they do their hobbies again or DS will go for a bike ride or run, sometimes we see family.

I find its got a bit harder since a trip the playground/park doesn't cut it for them anymore!

Mine isn't sporty and doesn't like "going for a walk" so can be a challenge to get her out. Somewhere involving Costa or other cafe is usually a winner but especially at this time of year there is a lot of down time at home.

Yeah we tend to have a weekly sport on Fri evening. Swimming Sat morning. Then at the mo we have lots of downtime. Maybe a trip or two out to the shops/dog walk/fun swim session/climbing wall. But the fun swim and climbing wall is maybe onceor twice a term, not weekly.

Usual winter formula is:

  1. some sort of activity- bouldering, padel, escape room, visit friends/family

  2. a dog walk & brunch/hot choc. I take dog alone the other day.

  3. chill time - tv, games, just relax, baking for lunches

I like the idea of a "formula" and I'm glad to see others doing a similar amount as we do. I was wondering if we were spectacularly lazy/dull
