Coding

Our 10-year-old has taken an interest in coding. He attends two lessons per week following school hours and is really enjoying it.

His tutor teaches him through the use of Lego Education Spike Prime.

He asked that I could get him the sets he's currently learning from, allowing him to study and enjoy them at home, and he promised not to ask for anything else.

I mentioned that I would consider it, but the two sets he wants are quite pricey, and I'm trying to avoid spoiling the children this year.

I believe he would benefit from having sets at home, and our younger boys might also enjoy them as they grow older. However, I'm considering whether I should still let him attend the lessons, which currently cost £28 per session, if I were to buy him the sets.

Would it be better for me to buy the sets for him, or should I just allow him to continue taking lessons?

If he just wants to do some coding at home, there’s a free app called Scratch and lots of YouTube tutorials. It’s what most primary schools use in Computing lessons.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I will take a look, although he is quite eager for me to buy him the sets he uses in his lessons.
