I'm just drinking my first cupla of the day, in my kitchen spot. Everything's reasonably clean and tidy after pottering yesterday so I don't need to do anything much this morning.

I've just put a coat of varnish on some peg doll bodies and am about to take my morning tablets before I head up to get dressed.

I'm off to take dd1 back to uni in London today, do her a shop and take her for some tea. I'm getting the train back this evening to come in, get a shower and probably go to bed ready for work tomorrow.

Dd2's staying here with their dad, I did ask if she wanted to come but she's a bit wary of the tube, so said no 🤷‍♀️. I'll try again another time. She's likely to finish her homework and watch some 9-1-1 or read something on her Kindle.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone. I've woken up still palpitatory this morning so it's going to be another quiet day for me.

I'm in the midst of having breakfast in bed - Lidl low GI brown bread and marmite and a cup of coffee, thanks to Mr Dilemma.

I will go downstairs and ensconce myself in the corner of our sofa when I've finished, and do some more work on next Christmas's stocking decorations. I started and finished the one for my lovely massage lady's little girl yesterday, and started on the one for my eldest grandson. I will finish that one today, then I may start on the one for my youngest daughter.

Mr Dilemma offered to make the stew today, but I think it is nicer when I made it and it's dated until the 16th, so I suggested we have the bol out of the freezer tonight. I expect it will be tomato soup for lunch - again.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Tangerinesattack · 11/01/2026 09:18

Good morning all. Think it'll be another fairly quiet day here. DH is out charging his van so DS and I will have American pancakes with bacon in a little bit, after I've done some work. Then I might see if DS fancies a couple of board games or working on the Christmas jigsaw - it's a Poirot themed one. Don't know if DH is working on the house today or not. He's not sleeping well just now and I don't want him to push himself too much. But he might take DS swimming later and I can do some admin stuff. Or they might work on the Jaws Lego set DS got DH for Christmas - I think they just have Bruce to go. Then Indonesian food for dinner and some telly and knitting. I'm making a scarf and I'm on the decrease section now so home straight. It'll still take me ages! Have a good day everyone.

Kim82 · 11/01/2026 09:24

Good morning everyone. I’m hoping for a quiet-ish day today. The weather is horrible, windy and rainy so I’d rather not leave the house but I need to take dd11 for some new school shoes and trainers so will need to nip into town with her. She’s still asleep yet though so it won’t be for a while.

Other than that all I need to do is strip the beds, put fresh covers on and iron school and work clothes for the week. Tea is pork with garlic roast potatoes and veg and then an evening in front of the tv and an early night.

The weekends go so quickly, 2 days a week off just isn’t enough!

You're very productive @lucysmam!

I'm sitting in reception at gym feeling slightly flushed and stoned almost. Had a hot shower afterwards.

Need to buy pillows so that's on the way home but they open 10am. Need to get a towel off of my damp hair. No idea how cold it is outside.

Aside from that I'll wash floors later.

troppibambini6 · 11/01/2026 09:34

Morning everyone . Sounds like a nice day @lucysmam.
im having my first coffee. Everyone still in bed but think youngest two are awake watching tv in bed.
Youngest dc has a football match and dd2 has a netball match about an hour away so lots of watching sport and taxi-ing kids about.
I forgot to take the lamb out of the freezer last night so I’m going to try and defrost it in the microwave and put it in the slow cooker for tonight.
I need to do uniforms and have a bit of a tidy round ready for everyone going back to school tomorrow.
So nothing very exciting going on here today.

Thislittlekitten · 11/01/2026 09:50

Good Morning @lucysmam and Sunday crowd.

@DilemmaDelilah I hope you feel better soon.

Im still in bed. Had a terrible sleep with next doors alarm going off. (Faulty). DDog up and down as a result. DD had a mammoth 14 hour sleep! She is 14 and been all over the place with sleep this week. She’s just brought us up tea and coffee in bed!

Dog will need proper walk later. Pouring just now and I’m tired. Once I’ve had my tea I’ll make bacon rolls.

DS has a party today and then a club later. DD will be studying.

Lasagne for tea later. I’ll need to sort out uniforms, check Callander, we have a lot of stuff on this week. I want to write down a list of books to order at the library too.

beachlovely · 11/01/2026 09:53

I don’t comment much but I do always read these threads and enjoy the lovely calm, cosy vibes of everyone’s weekends.

I’ve been up early, exercised and now chilling on the sofa with a coffee. I’m doing a January yoga challenge (I do one every year) . This year it’s only 10 minutes a day so very manageable, it’s on YouTube so easy to fit in at any time although I tend to start my day with it. It puts my in a good frame of mind for whatever the day brings.

Taxi service for teen and friends today. I don’t mind, I’m just happy he’s out and about and not gaming!

Cottage pie for dinner.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Zippedydodah · 11/01/2026 10:06

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, just back from a blustery dog walk, thankfully no rain or ice.
The last half mile was at a fast pace because there’s a pheasant shoot setting up in the fields at the end of the road and ZDog1 is terrified of gunshots and loud noise. We got back before they started.
Roast pork, roasted potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, mashed swede and green vegetables for dinner, apple pie to follow,
Little else planned for today, I need to get the ironing done and then some arty stuff I think.
Have a lovely day x

Zippedydodah · 11/01/2026 10:09

How long will it take to get DD1 back to university @lucysmam ? I well remember our treks north and south for the DCs, 4am start for DS heading north to miss the worst of the traffic.

MarmaladeSandwich7 · 11/01/2026 10:10

Morning @lucysmam & the Sunday crew. I feel like hibernating! It’s grim outside & quite dark so very tempting to have a duvet day. I was sitting up in bed on my phone at about 6.30 but went back to sleep & it was so cosy & warm. DH’s day off so he’s next to me on his I Pad. I made a cuppa & may have dunked 3 Galaxy digestives into mine! Toying with the idea of finishing the packet as there’s only one left. Won’t get those final few pounds off! I’ve lost nearly 5 stone but just can’t shift the last little bit to reach exactly 11 stone. I’m only 5ft 2.5” so 16 stone was morbidly obese 😢
DD17 is coughing away next door - she had a chesty cold at New Year & the cough is lingering. Not much planned for today. Might pop over to see my folks as I ended up only seeing them very briefly yesterday. DF has a scan late afternoon so I will need to go before then. Defrosted a small beef joint overnight which we will have with duck fat roasties, homemade Yorkshire puds ( DH), cauliflower cheese & gravy. Might do carrots for me. I’ll pop to Asda for eggs & look at the sale (saw on FB that clothes & shoes are reduced to as little as £1, although it wasn’t my local store). Dishwasher needs doing as per & there’s a basketful of clothes to be put away so that the tumble dryer can be emptied. I have 3 bras to soak. Very happy that Call the Midwife is back tonight! Also hoping to give the first series of “Patience” a try. Have a great day all 🙂

PermanentTemporary · 11/01/2026 10:11

Good morning all. One day I would love to see a picture of your peg dolls lucysmam. And I wonder whose yoga you are doing beachlovely? Sounds good.

A big day yesterday in London taking ds for a birthday lunch and wedding dress shopping for me, so today is quieter. I’m huddled in bed with my first coffee. Going to do a gentle stretchy workout, then go and see my mum in the nursing home, then dp and I will brave the weather for a shortish walk I think (there’s a local 5k we like). I think probably omelettes for lunch and a basic pasta with tomato sauce for tea.

Nattalie18 · 11/01/2026 10:11

Slept in til 9am; soo nice,

2 DS we’re up watching tv and playing football.

just had a lovely coffee from my bean to cup; and two slices of sourdough with lots of peanut butter.

Off for a trip to the playground later with kids; then home to finish homework; prep for school and a roast lamb in the oven for dinner.

looking forward to the next ep of the night manager tonight

shouldofgotamortage · 11/01/2026 10:12

Good morning, I have been up since 4am as DS10 diabetes alarms went off as he was low and I couldn’t fall back to sleep.
On my second red bull (don’t drink coffee) of the day while DS10 plays minecraft.
We are snowed in but it’s really windy so won’t be going out in it. DS14 is still sound asleep as is DH.
Just pottering around today doing some housework, might take a nap later. Looking forward to call the midwife starting tonight. Grin

@DilemmaDelilah hope you’re feeling better soon 💐💐💐

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 11/01/2026 10:20

Good morning lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees, a cuppa and a slice of toast. Then went to aldi for bits and bobs and have now had another cuppa and a slice of sourdough toast. Zippedy your poor dog. My last dog was terrified of loud noises and would sit on me, trembling.
I'm just off to make lentil soup and stick a gammon joint in the oven. Then empty and load the dishwasher. I think dd will be round at some point with washing to go in my tumble dryer. I might wash floors later and clear out the airing cupboard. Have a good day all

Good morning @lucysmam and all. We’re on our way to take ds1 back to uni. We’ll go for a bit of brunch with him then pretty much set straight off back as he’s got revision to crack on with. We often make a day of it and go into the city, but not today.
We managed to get a beef casserole in the slow cooker before setting off so that’s ready for dinner, and hopefully ds2 will have emptied the dishwasher and done something vaguely productive with his day whilst we’re out.

dicentra365 · 11/01/2026 10:27

Good morning @lucysmam and all, probably a quiet day here too. I was going to cook a stew but need some more ingredients. It’s been very icy and snowy here and I fell over when trying to get down the road yesterday so thats putting me off moving to try and get them. However ds needs some new clothes as he’s shot up so might see if dh fancies going to the local retail park. I do have the stuff to make a plum crumble though, so thats a bonus. Aside from that I need to get uniforms etc ready for the week ahead and do some reading for the training I have tomorrow.

mondaytosunday · 11/01/2026 10:32

Good morning! Grey skies here. I’m still in bed - no dog to get up for 😔, and the cats have dry food if hungry, though I’m hungry now so will go down. DD back at Durham - left very reluctantly yesterday
and at one point really thought she wouldn’t go. I’ve exchanged texts with my son who is off for a run before the rain (he lives about 80 miles away).
Cheeky Indian takeaway last night so leftovers today.
I believe Sunday is truly a day of rest, but there are still pine needles lurking around so might go over the living room again with the hoover. Tidy the kitchen of course but other than that plan on reading a book I got for Christmas and lazying about.

curly100 · 11/01/2026 12:15

Morning all!

I've been to the farm shop and have got the first of two loads of washing on. I have some work projects I need to catch up with/get ahead on but the weather is miserable and I'm not feeling particularly motivated. I've also got some cooking to do for the week ahead and there's always plenty of jobs around the house that need doing...

lucysmam · 11/01/2026 12:30

@Zippedydodah it's just about an hour and 40 mins, on this train. Some are a bit faster. Plus leaving the house in plenty of time, and tube to Wembley once we get there. So maybe 3 hours ish travelling. I'll be ready for bed when I get in!

Dreadful day here, rain, sleet, wind. Delightful!
I've been to my class, put a sports wash on and chilling.
We have a dripping kitchen tap so that is this afternoons job.
No idea on tea, usual Sunday night, glass of wine, bit of telly, and preparing for Monday

Peridot1 · 11/01/2026 12:52

Good afternoon @lucysmam and everyone. Took me a bit of time to find the thread today.

I went for a walk earlier with my neighbour and her dog. ‘Twas a bit cold! Put some sausage rolls and pain au chocolates in the oven when I came back. It’s mainly to use stuff up from the freezer but always makes me feel like a domestic goddess for some reason!

I’m planning a lazy day. I emptied the dishwasher and did a load of washing. DH has just refilled the dishwasher and it’s on again. No idea where it all comes from but he cooked scrambled eggs and bacon for him and DS. Plus various glasses, mugs etc.

I have some laundry to fold up. Would like to get DS to spend 20 minutes or so doing some sorting in his room but he will no doubt moan. I might vacuum my bedroom. Or not. I might have a bath. Might not!

Roast pork and roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and Brussels sprouts for dinner. With wine.

I also might attempt a bit of a menu plan for the week with some new ideas. Getting a bit bored and want to eat a bit more healthily.

holymolly2 · 11/01/2026 12:53

The weather is foul here too. Very cold and rainy, icy and windy. Just all of the bad weathers rolled into one today! I had a really long lie in after a couple of drinks last night. Dh and ds have been out for haircuts and I stayed home with the toddler who is playing and currently watching junk on her iPad. I have some washing, ironing and housework to do and if I can motivate myself, I may go to the gym later.

We will have Sunday dinner at about 6 and then settle down with a film before bed. A very lazy day.

Buscobel · 11/01/2026 13:01

Afternoon everyone.

Went out to the supermarket to get ingredients for tonight’s dinner- a chicken recipe from the local magazine.

We have been decorating the kitchen, so today is the touching up and putting everything back together. My knees and hips are not keen on bending and shuffling to paint above the skirting boards.

When that’s all done, the floor will need a good clean and then I’ll probably collapse in a heap and see what’s on TV.
