DH has surprised me with a holiday (plenty of notice) for my birthday in may.
He knows that I don't like surprises really but wanted to do something for my big birthday.
What do I pack. Just me and him.
He has only booked one large suitcase. Plus a carry on bag.

I love a packing thread!
That not much luggage but I’m sure it’s doable -people will say they have done a fortnight in a carry on.

This is my list now
3 shorts
2 dresses
2 trousers/skirts
6 tops eg 3 vest+ 3 t shirts
2 swim wear and cover ups
Comfortable sandals
smarter sandals
flip flops
small handbag
beach bag - folding tote to save space
beach towels - folding ones
hat
Nightwear x 2
underwear 10 pants 3 bras 2 socks
light jacket
warm jumper* bitter experience this is good to take
toiletries and make up and first aid/ medicine stash
sun cream

travel in- thin joggers vest jumper and jacket thin scarf, plus trainers and socks

in hand luggage one shorts, 1 dress, one vest, one t shirt, one swimwear plus cover up, comfortable sandals.

Hand luggage- passport, purse, AirPods, hand wipes, tissues, painkillers, water, lip balm sunglasses phone charger and apdapter.

helpful optional items - zip lock bags x 2, scissors, cards, pen

It will be quite warm so you will need beach wear and dresses. Easy to pack that in a suitcase and carry bag. We never take a suitcase (although we normally go five days max) and do just fine.

beachwear
comfy clothes
out for meals and drinks clothes (I usually take a few black vests, skirts and trousers and mix and match)
a million pairs of knickers just in case
toiletries like make up and remover
buy sunscreen and shampoos over there
hotel should have hairdryer

If you’re planning on going up Mount Teide (which is fabulous - I highly recommend it!) you’ll need some warm clothes too. It’s cold up there. https://www.volcanoteide.com/en

That's plenty of luggage for warm weather holiday but just to reiterate that you might need warm clothing to go up Mount Teide.

I've had a couple of failed attempts because the weather was too windy and cold despite being 30 C and sunny on the south coast. Even near the road at the bottom of the cable car, which was closed duty aforementioned high winds it was freezing. You also need to arrange a pass in advance or go on an organised tour.

But if you wear your bulky clothes and shoes on the plane, that helps a lot with luggage.
