My 12 year old son received a PS5 for Christmas. He is feeling left out because he tells me that his friends are all allowed to play 18 rated games such as Grand Theft Auto and Call of Duty. I think he is too young for these games. They involve the characters behaving in really abhorrent ways. I do not want him exposed to this yet.
He feels that it was a waste of money to buy the PS5 if he is not allowed 18 rated games. He says that the majoity of PS5 games are rated 18. I have tried to compromise and allow him to play some 16 rated games if the violence is stylised and there is nothing too nasty in them. He is not allowed to play 16 rated games online as he would need an adult account in order to do this. If he had this we would have to remove all parent controls on his PS5. He could theoretically speak to adult strangers online. He says he would not do this.
Which games are your 12 year olds playing? Does anyone have any suggestions for games he may like that are not too horrible?
