It needs to be longly farm, or else there's no point.

YES

Mix a couple of tablespoons cottage cheese with 3 or 4 eggs and whatever veg you have in the fridge (peppers, tomatoes, spinach etc), line a cake tin with a tortilla pour in egg mix and sprinkle grated cheese on top. Makes a nice quick sort of quiche.

YourWinter · 11/01/2026 11:13

I think the nicest cottage cheese is Longley Farm. I sometimes have it on crackers or a salad, but my dogs get a spoonful on their breakfast.

I make it into ice cream.

1 tub cottage cheese
2 bananas
Honey

Blend. freeze.

Mumsknot · 11/01/2026 11:19

Btw I make those pancakes regularly and they seem quite wet until they are cooked - just to forewarn you!

Bigdayout · 11/01/2026 11:20

Pasta, cottage cheese and bacon. Never known anyone else have this combination but I love it šŸ˜‚

Mumsknot · 11/01/2026 11:20

Ooh I’ve never tried ice cream with it - that’s a good shout

With a jacket potato is the absolute best. Loads of butter too

Especially with some crispy bacon too

Thank you OP for the thread and thanks to @teacoffeeorpassthegin I've just made these from the recipe you posted.
They don’t look remotely like bagels, more like dollops, and have spring onions instead of spinach, I also added a big spoon of peanut butter and some nutritional yeast flakes.
Looking forward to them tomorrow at work, I work outside and favour a savoury late breakfast!

I have to admit to being one of those weird people who just eats it out of the tub with a spoon, standing at the fridge. Love cottage cheese.

This!
On jacket potatoes, on toast, in a quiche, its good in other things too

I love it on jacket spud

Gabitule · 11/01/2026 22:52

I eat it with polenta and salt. Yum

YourWinter · 11/01/2026 22:52

Ok image under review… Asda Ā£1.73, Morrison’s Ā£1.79, Waitrose Ā£1.80, Iceland Ā£1.95.

Thelnebriati · 11/01/2026 22:55

I push it through a fine sieve with the back of a spoon to get rid of the lumps, mix it with whisked eggs and veg, then bake it in muffin trays til golden on top.

canklesmctacotits · 11/01/2026 22:58

Make quick bagels. Way nicer than any store bought versions.

cupfinalchaos · 11/01/2026 22:59

I buy the Langley Farm one with chives spread onto charcoal crackers with capers.

soupyspoon · 11/01/2026 23:02

Mixed with eggs it makes a nice lasagne topping, eaten with a spoon straight out, eat it at room temperature not fridge cold

Pile it high on hot toast which is drenched and dripping in butter, put lots of salt on the top

All of the above suggestions are only for full fat cottage cheese, if its low fat or even fat free, throw it in the bin pronto

Nomorecoconutboosts · 11/01/2026 23:04

Sometimes I have it with fruit e.g. blueberries or grapes (in place of yogurt or kefir for a change)
it’s a great breakfast, I love the cool fresh taste. Is it the texture that people don’t like I wonder?

Mumwithbaggage · 11/01/2026 23:05

Put it in the bin. Looks curdled to me.

Cheersminesalargeone · 11/01/2026 23:13

Chuck it in the bin 🤮

mazedasamarchhare · 11/01/2026 23:34

I love cottage cheese, but only if it goes on top of something slathered in butter, thus turning something vaguely healthy unhealthy! Carrs table water biscuits a thick layer of butter a glob of cottage cheese and an olive or gherkin on top is my all time favourite!

soupyspoon · 12/01/2026 12:25

I dont know why people say this about cottage cheese, as if its some 'diet' food that cant touch 'non diet' (theres no such thing but just for sake of argument) foods

Do we say the same about a lettuce slice or tomato in a burger bun, or some fruit on the side of a chocolate brownie?

Its just cheese, a type of cheese. There are no healthy and unhealthy foods.
