What age to start using face wash for children?

Hi,

I was wondering what age you stated getting your children to use a gentle face wash and moisturiser (thinking Cerave) instead of just water? My DC is 11 so wondering if it’s time. No obvious spots or skin changes yet.

Thanks!

No idea. Been wondering about this. On here people go mad when young girls are interested in skincare but actually it is something that needs consideration as every woman I know has some sort of skincare routine. You teach them how to brush their teeth and hair so I see it as similar to that. I was thinking about 9/10 for a gentle cleanse and light moisturiser with SPF.

? Let them lead you, I’m managing on soap at 52

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

E.g. when they look spotty. Otherwise they're probably fine.

My DS was 13 - later to puberty and had no spots at all until 13.
DS 2 is 10 and already I make him do antiperspirant which we call ‘pit stick’ daily . He will probably need daily face wash by 11as he seems to be having an earlier puberty.
I think it needs to be guided by their needs and hormones .

Soap /shower gel is all you need at 11.

I wash my face with shower gel/soap, it’s all I have ever done , then I started using a light Simple moisturiser in my late teens , in my 30s started with Simple richer moisturiser now in mid 40s I use Nivea Q10 and I have beautiful skin.

I’ve also bought the 14 year old some of those spot sticks that help spots clear quickly

@NotAFanOfJan , When you want to spend money you don't need to spend.

Thanks all, that’s really helpful. Think I’ll hold off for as long as possible and have some bits ready!
