Hairdresser issues

I went to my usual hairdresser but the owner who usually does my hair didn't do it. The other stylist did it and I dont like her. I normally get a colour and cut but this time I've come home and my head is really itchy which doesn't normally happen when the owner does it. Also the other stylist washed my hair and all the water ran down my face which never happens when the owner washes my hair and this stylist cut my hair wrong and whilst I was there she took a call on her mobile abd was chatting for ages leaving me sitting in the chair with only half of the haircut done.

I will speak to the owner about tge itchy scalp but she's closed tomorrow and they dont open on Mondays so I will have to wait until Tuesday I wonder of washing my hair will help as washing g removes some of the dye never ever having this stylist again

What so you mean by you sont like her? Had she done something to upset you previously or sont you like her styling?
They should have contacted you prior to your appointment to ask you about change of hairdresser so you had the option to rebook. She should have been more careful with the hair wash and shouldn't have taken the call midcut- I wouldn't have been bothered if it was whilst the colour was taking.

Also I have a grown out fringe which I like and it comes to just about my mouth and I can tuck it behind my ear. Today the fringe was trimmed too short and when I pulled it down she said have I left it too long do you want it shorter. I said no it should ne longer than this so she said why didn't you say dont cut the fringe?I shouldn't have to because a good stylist should know. I bever say anything to the owner and she never cuts it too short

Im very disappointed but my hair will grow. I think some of thelayers are tooshort and my hair has been hacked

Did you explain to her what you wanted? Did she ask what you wanted?

If she hasn’t cut your hair before, she needs a steer on what kind of style and cut you want. The owner knows your hair if she cuts it regularly.

I don’t think a long phone chat is OK either. It could have waited until the colour was developing.

I think you should speak to the owner next week and tell her your concerns.

She is only going to know what you tell her. If you don't tell her you like your fringe a certain way, she won't know as she isn't the one who usually cuts your hair.
Did you fully explain what you wanted? As a hairdresser, a lot of people think they have explained but they mean something totally different. (Like men, fade and taper are different but lots don't realise). This is why a thorough consultation is important but it doesn't sound like it happened.

Itchy scalp could be due to different products though so might be fine after you've washed your hair.
Phonecall is really bad though.

A fringe doesn't come down to your mouth OP. You need to be more specific. Hairdressers are not mind readers Hmm

It just sounds as if you're miffed that someone else did you hair. So you're picking faults.

Next time, ask for the owner to do it and if she can't then you'll wait.

She is a very happy lively person and very outgoing just not a good hairdresser

The colour had already been done and she was cutting it when the call came through

Ok nobody has commented on my itchy scalp. Maybe after a couple of washes it will be better thus stylist only works on a Friday and sometimes it's difficult to get a Saturday appointment but usually this stylist colours my hair and hands ne over to the owner for the cut but not this time. In future I will make sure the owner does it

Mi said to the stylist should grow the layers and have it all one length and she said no your hair is too thick for one length so I said but thick hair can be thinned out. Surely a good stylist would know that.

But you said that the itchy scalp doesn’t happen when the owner does it, which indicates that the owner does the colour, but then you said the other stylist usually colours you hair and the owner cuts it.

Speak to the owner about the itchy scalp, but apart from that being a new thing, it wasn’t much different from your normal appointment, other than the cut was not done by the owner.

Wash your hair thoroughly - it should help with the itching.

A professional hairdresser should have had a consultation with you before starting your hair, even if they have been doing your hair for a while. As a pp said, if you didn't book with this stylist, you should have been told prior to the appointment and given the option to reschedule. Unless of course, there was an exceptional reason.

If you plan to continue going to the salon and your scalp ceases to itch after washing, I'd be inclined to wait until your next appointment to mention the issues you had. If you'd like the hair cut to be rectified, call Tuesday morning as soon as the salon opens.

What is there to rectify. I have already had it cut and will have to let it grow a bit. As for the scalp I will wash it to see if that helps. I think maybe the stylist could have incorrectly mixed the colour. Anyway I'm never using her again

Even when I restyle it af home I hate my haircut. They layers are too short and my usual style looks ridiculous. Im embarrassed. Its just been totally hacked. NEVER going to this stylist again

You said your hair had been hacked. By this I assumed you meant the hair cut was not to a satisfactory standard.

PineappleMelon · 10/01/2026 12:07

Maybe post a photo of your usual haircut vs this one? But anyway it doesn’t matter, it just matters how you feel and if you don’t like it you don’t like it.
