Fave toys from the 80's and 90's?

What toys/games do you remember playing with the in 80's and 90's that you loved?

My top 5 were:

  • fantastic flowers
  • fashion wheel
  • cupcake dolls
  • sky dancers
  • a popple

Then probably barbies, and later lego/k'nex, but these don't stand out in my heart as much as the ones above!

What do you remember playing with?

A skip it (I'm sure that's what it was called - you put it round your ankle and jumped over it as it rotated)

Mr Pop game

Fuzzy felt

The 1994 Post Office toy, played with that for hours. My trusty pink Pound Puppy van with 8 mini figures. Christmas Barbie 1998. Ariel doll with mermaid tail circa 1996. Original Furby (still have him).

I loved my post office-selling car tax discs

I still have my Popple, Sweet Secret dolls that folded up into a jewel, my Keyper snail and Pound Puppy in kennel/box.

I always wanted a Boglin but never got one. Sad times. 😂

My Pet Monster, with the orange handcuffs. Looked a while ago and they are a fortune in eBay.
WereBears.
Boglins.
Trolls.

MargaretThursday · 10/01/2026 17:55

I collected 2" high Ari rubber dolls. I was aiming for 60, but the shop stopped selling them when I had around 48.
They were all given a birthday, name, family members and I made them two outfits-one a sort of uniform and the other their own individual one.

Sylvanian Families
Lite Brite
She-Rah and her monstrosity of a pink castle
Skip It with a counter to tell you have many 'skips' you do!
Sticklebricks
Lego
Perfume making kit
The big snails whose shells opened up
A squeazy Flounder from the Little Mermaid bath toy

RudolphTheReindeer · 11/01/2026 20:06

Does anyone remember the Fabuland Lego? The Animal Crossing lego now reminds me of it.

Mydahliasareshit · 11/01/2026 20:12

A flexible 'snake' made up of black and white pyramidal bricks, that could be twisted and turned into all sorts of creations. No idea of it's brand name.

Etatauri · 11/01/2026 20:13

@RudolphTheReindeer I wouldn't have remembered it, but recently went to the Legohouse in Denmark where they have an entire floor dedicated to past lego and oh the nostalgia! It was so lovely seeing toys that I used to have as a child again.

Operation
My little Pony

HATED that Rubik’s cube which was actually a flat rectangle divided into square connected by clear plastic wire. Always broke, impossible to solve. Grrr.

Dollyfloss · 11/01/2026 20:28

The things that stick in my memory are:

Speak n Spell
Keepers (“keepers, keepers, what’s inside those keepers?” !!)
Glow worm
One of those pop up treehouse things with people inside
Fashion wheel

My absolute favourite thing though was stationery, like coloured notepaper with envelopes and scented erasers and those transfers you would rub onto paper with a stick. I was obsessed with stuff like that and spent all my pocket money in the local stationery shop.

And Bunty magazine was another obsession!

I had garbage pail stickers and stuck them all over my bed - and my mum scraped most of them off again as she said they were too disgusting! I remember the one she took particular offence to was Kinky Dickie - I had no idea why at the time 🤣🤣🤣
