Does anyone here make cocktails at home, and what are your favourites?

I have recently started getting into cocktails, and if I am out and about somewhere fancy I will try a new one. For Christmas my partner bought me a cocktail shaker, ice crusher and glasses etc ... and I don't really know where to start.

I have sugar syrup, whisky, bourbon and gin in the cupboard. I have been making Old Fashioned cocktails, but I fancy trying something different. I have just seen a recipe for a Bramble, which is gin and blackberry, so I have bought a small bottle of blackberry liqueur and I plan on trying it at the weekend. But any tried and tested recipes would be appreciated - especially if they mainly contain whisky, bourbon or gin .... plus adding one or two ingredients.

Check out an app called My Bar. You put in what you have and it tells you what cocktails you can make with what you have and create shopping lists for things you want/need.

I tend to keep vodka, gin, at least one kind of rum and a few various syrups and mixers, and just throw together stuff I like and see what happens.

I love a Godfather - equal measures of scotch and amaretto. I usually drop a cherry in as well.
