My 16 month has started getting rashes/ hives after eating at first it was about half an hour after eating but now is instantly after eating he’s also getting a tingly tongue, his belly is also bloated. We’ve been to the doctors and they’ve referred to the hospital but not sure how long this will take we suspect it is a gluten/ wheat allergy.has anyone had anything similar? He had a viral infection the start of December and I’m not sure if this has brought it on as that’s when this started.

What did your doctor say apart from the referral? Can you afford private allergy testing? I would say to stop whatever you’re giving him that causes the reaction for about 2 weeks and slowly reintroduce it but it sounds like it is getting worse so that’s probably not a good idea.
start keeping a food diary of everything he eats and go from there. My son had egg and dairy allergies, almost outgrown them but it is a royal pain.

Doctor has said to avoid foods till referral and has given antihistamine incase he does have a reaction.Ive got a food diary of everything that has made him react from when it first started with pictures.

Hes not reacting after his milk, seems to be just after eating as that’s what I thought as when he was on formula he had really bad reflux and was on omeprazole and got got put on the dairy free milk but nothing changed so we put him back on cow and gate milk with the omeprazole but as soon as he turned 1 and he got normal milk he stopped being sick.

There can also be delayed reaction. How is he now? Any word on allergy testing?

Still waiting for referral letter from hospital they said we should receive it by 5th Feb, he’s still getting rashes nearly every day, we’ve cut out gluten and wheat which seems to have helped but still getting rashes but we aren’t sure what from. We are keeping food diary and putting pictures of the rashes on.

Could you name the foods he’s getting a reaction after eating?

My DC didn’t have to eat the food he was allergic to to get the rash. Egg touching his skin gave him a rash and he also had the rash after touching a dog on one occasion, a plant on another,
