How are you meant to prepare the sandwich? The instructions were in Chinese and in typical translation fashion were a hoot to read, talking about feet, ogres, the word dimensions three times in once semtence and even talking about cooking children and mentally infirm!

It came out like a house brick and was very pale, but tasted amazing!

You need butter on the outside of the bread so it can get the oil to crisp up better.

Watching with interest as I've been considering getting one of these. Regarding the translation, omg! I have had such a laugh reading some Chinese to English translations!

Make normal sandwich but butter on outside ( or I think mayonnaise works too). Mine takes a bit more time than on the instructions to get nicely brown/crisp, and you need to flip front to back when turning over for even browning.
