Mums! How are we levelling up and getting our pink back in 2026!

I have had 2 young children and I am 29, in 2026 I am returning back to my job I worked hard for part time, and I want to optimise my health.
I want to sort out my gut/ maintain my weight loss/ invest more time into self care and not feel guilty to have things done one off for just me (beauty appts etc).

How are you going to try and get your pink back this year? Xx

Stop being mean to the OP. It’s a commonly used phrase on Instagram and it’s perfectly clear what she means.

@166ladyI’m due my second baby in March and I’m already looking forward to getting back into exercise as soon as it’s safe. I’ve got my eye on a 10k race next January as something to aim towards, and I’ll be back to (gentle) weight training from 6-8 weeks post partum. I’m older than you (40! 😮) so I’m expecting it to be harder to get my figure back than it was after I had DS, but I’m determined to do it.

As this will be my final maternity leave, I also want to give myself permission to enjoy it when I can. I’ve got a list of books to read and TV shows to watch, so I’m hoping this baby is a reasonable napper!

Will people ever realise that they could just not read or not respond to posts? There's absolutely no need to be awful.

I am getting faint hints of journalist.

Yes! Step 1: start a thing.
Step2: write about the thing
Step 3: write how the thing is over

Also levelling up is what Boris Johnson said he'd do for the North (& didn't). Also applies to computer games. Not new mums.

Taztoy · 06/01/2026 08:09

I was never pink to start with. What a twee cringey way to express yourself.

Flamingos lose their pink feathers after giving birth, and slowly get them back. That’s how I understood the reference anyway!

OP, I’m trying to stick to a simple skincare routine, actually get ready for the day with hair and a bit of make up and find time to exercise a little!

Birds give birth now???

I actually can’t believe this has turned into ridiculous comments from people who have nothing to add but their 2 pence on how I worded a question, and a phrase that is commonly used all over tiktok and instagram. As I said I am 29, I use phrases like this and if you didn’t understand it you don’t need to reply sarcastically :)
(not you of course @SixDozen thank you for your reply)

I don’t do TikTok or Instagram. I’ve no interest in either.

I’ve never worn pink - I don’t like pink. Does that mean I don’t exist as a woman?

I am 57. I don’t know why that’s relevant. But there you go.

I've bought myself some new clothes which don't have to accommodate breastfeeding because I'm done with daytime feeds!

OMG, the day I could ditch the underneath vest felt like Christmas!

Um....is this a trick question...or a clique question??

Research for an article is my guess.

OscillateItsTitsALot · 06/01/2026 11:53

I really don’t know why the OP is getting a kicking for saying “Getting your pink back”. so many sneery comments. Who cares if you haven’t heard it before OP explained what it meant.

Maybe some of you could get your pink back by stop being such anal uptight babies who, rather than contribute to a discussion, feel you simply MUST make a shitty comment because someone said “pink”. Is this how you behave IRL??

Mydadsbirthday · 06/01/2026 11:56

There is no need to be sniffy with the OP who is still in her 20s unlike many posters here and is entitled to use whatever phrase she likes even if many of us find it cringey.

If this is a genuine post of course. I agree that it does sound like a journalist.

Sweetiedarling7 · 05/01/2026 23:14

Are we supposed to be pink? Why?
Possibly the silliest thing I have heard this year …

To be fair, we're only six days in...

Damn right I’d tell my daughters to catch themselves on if they said such nonsensical crap.

As others have said, the op comes across like a journo to me.

You knew what I meant 🤷‍♀️

kpopdemonhunterz · 06/01/2026 12:38

i actually rather liked the pink thing when I saw it. As much as I love my children, my freedom and sense of self have gone and I do look forward to them returning!

Anonanonanonagain · 06/01/2026 12:41

Honestly I thought it was something vagina related when I read the title hence I clicked in but now I see what you mean although I wont be using the term myself.
As an answer I got my 'me' back in late 2001. I never let myself go per-se but went through what I now know to be peri in my late 30's-early 40's with weight gain and bad skin and the mood swings and honestly just felt shite about myself but as soon as the weight went on it started coming off and I was doing nothing different so then I felt better about myself and started dressing better, met a man who I dont regret but hope I never see again, started going out more and taking more pride in my appearance. He taught me valuable lessons about my self worth as in I was worth far more than him and now I am the end of the scale hitting 50, never looked better, skin is the best it has been since my 20's, I look polished well turned out, mood swings are a thing of the past and I love 'me' again so if that is what you meant by it then I have got it now and intend to keep it. A little bit of self confidence goes a long way.

ShawnaMacallister · 06/01/2026 12:45

Get your pink back is a slogan for a brand aimed at mums, it refers to flamingos which lose their pink colour when they have babies and then get it back or something along those lines
it represents getting your 'self'/sparkle back after motherhood

My DD comes out with all sorts of nonsense words, but because I’m not a dick who thinks she should only say the words I say, I accept she’s part of a different generation and just smile. I wouldn’t dream of telling her to catch herself on. But you do you.

OscillateItsTitsALot · 06/01/2026 12:53

The posters implying the “get your pink back” is sexist - how supportive of women is it to shout a woman down (because of semantics) who wants to talk about finding her identity again after passing the phase of her children being very young?

I think some women are just seriously bitter that perhaps they didn’t always put themselves first when their kids were small and want to make other women feel like shit for needing a sense of identity outside of being a mum

OscillateItsTitsALot · 06/01/2026 12:55

Anyway to answer OP- mine are well past the toddler stages now but when they went to school I stayed part time for a year and spent my 2 days off relaxing, watching TV and going to spa days or shopping. I figured after 8 years of parenting I deserved a break.

I also took up crafts when they both started sleeping through and evenings were easier. Easy ones as I have no creativity. Diamond painting is SO relaxing

ResusciAnnie · 06/01/2026 12:56

Finally nailed a skincare routine that works for me - no rashes or spots, woo! Just in time for my grey hairs to take over 😂

So, keep up with skincare and gua sha

Park runs

Mounjaro

Use the good stuff - candles mainly!

Actually read

My friend just gave me lots of hand me down clothes and wow the difference when you buy good quality stuff rather than supermarket and primark… I feel amazing!

I used to find skincare routines a huge chore but since becoming a mum I really enjoy them!

I hadn't heard this expression before but have always felt that women should feel confident to express their femininity without criticism from other women.

I will be getting my pink back by improving my health (chronic condition that I spent most of 2025 managing which I am determined to banish this year).

Started with having my nails painted and hair cut yesterday.
