I am so anxious about it. I hate this feeling after a great time off.

Me! But I know I'll feel loads better this time tomorrow when that first day is over and done with.

LoveHartnett · 04/01/2026 16:16

Oh definitely. Really trying to fight it as don’t want to ruin my time off. Absolutely hate my job which really doesn’t help. Had such a lovely break with the odd day at work throughout, but had such a lovely chilled last few days it just makes me want to cry the whole family back to work/school grind

peacefulpeach · 04/01/2026 16:17

Yes, and I’ve forgotten my password..

Yes, I have thought this too. Even after the first morning meeting it will be business as usual. But until then, the worry continues.

I like my job and my colleagues but yes, I feel the impending doom. Two training days before the students return and I know by 9.30am on Wednesday, the holidays will feel like a distant memory.

fouroclockrock · 04/01/2026 16:18

I think it will kick in more on day 2 for me.

Lulu1919 · 04/01/2026 16:19

Yes

PumpkinSparkleFairy · 04/01/2026 16:20

Yes, me - I’m going back after 15 months on maternity leave and just want to run away 🙈

Phased return at least, but I have zero interest in going back.

Justnevergetsthere · 04/01/2026 16:20

I'm dreading it. I wanted to go back fighting fit and focused after a good break, but I'm full of cold instead. 😫

SparklyBrickViper · 04/01/2026 16:23

Absolutely dreading it and I’m not back until Tuesday.

The only bright spot for me is that I’ve now completed the 6 months I needed to stay in this post and can start to apply for new posts internally.

sociallydistained · 04/01/2026 16:23

Yes definitely. I worked a couple of days over the holidays but most of the 2 weeks was off and feel like my 3 year old is in such a good place not being woken up in the morning and rushed about and I know it's going to be rough tomorrow. Love the slower pace of life.

DollopOfFun · 04/01/2026 16:27

I wouldn't usually as I love my job, but my most hated task is the yearly appraisal. And it's tomorrow.

Thankfully, I've been totally on top of my game this year, and have prepared a fantastic piece of work showcasing all of my achievements, so I'm fully prepared.

Oh hang on, no. That's not what I did.

Me too. I was in last Monday, it was very quiet. But I have really enjoyed the time off and my kids have been fab. I just don't want to go. Unfortunately need the income for the lifestyle we want...humph

Aye - until half an hour ago when we got notification that due to severe weather warnings in place overnight that we will be completely closed and all staff to have at least another day off.

Lol. We had to do our end of yr comments recently and I think it's just such a tick box exercise and no one really cares. Our bonus is not based on our performance either so I kind of slacked off on mine this year

yes dreading it!
its more the general chaos of school run/work/clubs and having to rush EVERY single morning.

I have loved our lie ins!!!!!

Ofchris · 04/01/2026 16:38

Me too. Worked 2 days over Xmas but no one was in and I didn’t have any meetings. Back properly on Tuesday as unfortunately lottery escape plan didn’t work.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 04/01/2026 23:04

Neither did mine 😂

Ho hum I have to be up at 5 and yet I want to doomscroll and forget about work

Yes, soo much to sort out and poor management who are very much of the “new year, new challenges… let’s review how we do every fucking thing and make ‘difficult decisions’” which sounds super fun when we haven’t got on top of last year’s challenges. Don’t worry, free AI (because we’re too tight to pay for licenses) will do most of our job - except we proved it can’t but we ignore that. I did make a fab review of the year showing how well we did … ignoring the numbers we gave it and inventing entirely new ones. It’s like a bullshit producer that impresses senior team because they don’t realise it’s not actually accurate.

yay 2026 is going to be a fun year 🙄 I’m hoping by 3 weeks in we’ll be able to just get on and do our jobs.
