Euthanasia? Cruel not to,?

Siblings elderly dog can no longer walk (back legs have gone). It tries to drag itself around using it's front legs but can't go far. It's on painkillers and the vet suggested PTS. It looks unhappy.

Sibling wont put the dog to sleep. It's their only dog although they do have 2 cats and a rabbit.

I'm not happy about this. Nothing I can do though?

I agree it is cruel. When the leg and hip joints have deteriorated that badly then they will never recover.

With my then 15 year old labrador all four of his legs suddenly gave way at once one day. He couldn't get up at all and never would have walked again. It was definitely time for "that decision" horrible though it was.

I suspect it is also "that time" for your sibling's dog, and they need to face it. It's difficult, but it has to be done.

When the back legs go, thats usually the sign. Better a week early than a week late in any event. Hard though.
