Ring doorbell not picking up all activity

Mixed feelings about these but we had a theft from the drive and DH wanted one. Had it a few weeks and it’s been quite useful for parcels etc. I have noticed though that it doesn’t pick up all comings and goings. The motion area is set up to be on our drive but not all activity is recorded. Can’t seem to work out why,

any ideas?

Absolutely no idea at all, mine is exactly the same. I've had one for 7yrs and have spent 7yrs wanting to throw it in the bin!

Ours picks up most things. I have noticed if people arrive/leave in quick-ish succession it won't go off.

For example, when kids arrive home from school it will go off for first one. Someone arriving a minute or three later it won't.

It sounds like you need to adjust your motion sensitivity settings. Mine are on really low because the door is on the pavement and otherwise it would pick up every one walking past but you can adjust it to be super sensitive

I have a battery operated Ring and also find it a bit his and miss. Despite me keep altering the range of detection, it often picks up a neighbour getting into their car (which is parked right next to my fence). Other times someone can walk right up to the door and it doesn't go off. I also notice that if a caller doesn't press the doorbell firmly, it doesn't always ring. PITA for how expensive they are.

I'm thinking of getting one of those plug in cameras that stick on the inside of your window as a back up. That way I can look at the camera occasionally without worrying about running down the battery.

Thanks everyone. Will look at settings.
