Young people driving 100k+ Cars? How?

BeGoldWasp · 02/01/2026 16:27

I just drove past a male who looked young 20s driving a 100k+ car. How is that even possible? I've seen them a few times and still confuses me how every-time. Is this common? Bentley for reference.

For the most part, the cars are financed, leased, or a company car.

A car of such value is still 2k+ a month.

I read an article last year about how something like 80% of people in the UK driving very big, expensive vehicles have them on HP. (And not everyone has insurance! I have lost count of the amount of times that people in high-powered vehicles are involved in accidents and one of the charges is inevitably driving without insurance and/or without a licence!) So the answer is usually that they are not owned outright.

Rich Daddy 💯

newornotnew · 02/01/2026 16:31

Some people have lots of money, some have car finance, some have company cars.

As mentioned above, this car would have been easily 2k+ per month. Looked mid 20s.

I know somebody whose 20 year old son works for Bentley. Occasionally he gets to bring a car home.

Bank of Mum and Dad, I suspect, @BeGoldWasp. Or maybe he was borrowing his parents’ car.

Living at home. No rent, no bills, all the money goes on the car finance.

(Edit - "at home" = parents' home)

Edited

But they need to have a necessary income to pass finance for such a car. So still cant be a small income.

Finance, company car, bank of mum/ dad, inheritance. Or it's his own wealth- Mark Zuckerberg was a millionaire at 22 , instagram creators were also in their 20's ( less likely but you never know 🤣), some of the young ' influencers' are pretty wealthy.

CaptainCarrotsBigSword · 02/01/2026 16:38

Not a small income but doesn't need them to be on 60k+ either.

I mean you are the one seeing them, OP, so it much be possible mustn't it!

Well unless the youngster in question is a highly paid sports star it'll be bank of mum and dad. Could also be driving a car belonging to parent etc.

Oh shame my answer has been hidden. I was trying to explain what Dd has told me about how people she knows her age are making a lot of money. I think it’s triggered an automatic delete thing in case I’m trying to spam people (I’m not)

RandomUsernameHere · 02/01/2026 16:42

Maybe he’s got rich parents, maybe he’s been extremely successful at a young age, maybe he won the Euromillions. There are various explanations.

A car of such value is still 2k+ a month.

I was recently looking at my firm's scheme and nothing was more expensive than £600. You might be surprised.

Alternatively of course they are financed by rich and stupid parents, or they are the parents' car.

Or they've nicked it.

It's a bentley not a basic car..... This is over 2k a month.

Where I live, they’d be assumed to be a drug dealer.

tartyflette · 02/01/2026 16:44

I think if you nick a Bentley you sell it on sharpish!
(They probably all have trackers on these days)
