Dont want to be in the UK for Christmas or NY this year. Fancy Dubai.

If you did this last year tell me...
Where you stayed
Where you flew from
How long you stayed
What you did whilst there

Be warned....everyone on here hates Dubai so you'll get lots of 'terrible place , terrible people posts'. I used to live there and am still in the region so go back every so often.
There are obviously some great hotels and where you choose will depend on budget, beach v city, and general location. I generally go budget (ish) as standards are generally high everywhere and recommended the Rove chain, I did stay at one on the beach ....la mer Ithink it was called,, pretty far from most places though
Because of the expats and tourists Christmas is quite a big thing and there will be Xmas dinners / brunches etc (need to be booked in advance), the churches have Christmas services (if that's your thing), before Christmas there are usually festive markets on and off course the malls, museums etc are open.
Weather should be good though there was heavy rainfall and flooding a couple of weeks ago so not 100% guaranteed.

My brother and his family are there, they go a few times a year and really enjoy it
Not my cuppa though

I just want to ger away and experience something different. Dont want canaries where alot of people go due to weather in December. Seen a few people have gone to Dubai last Christmas and I liked the vibe. Looks like they do 'Christmas and NYear' quite well.

Weather also seems cooler their in December than our Summertime

I just want the above us a great hotel near beach and malls.

But need advice on who to fly with, which hotel would suit, and activities to do etc

I have been at Christmas along with March, May & October . I love it although we did have rain one day at Christmas it is usually good weather. Look at Emirates’s holidays. Do you want a beach hotel? The Palm hotels are nice but not so easy to get around the city. I like Hilton Jumeriah beach as you can walk to marina, restaurants along the walk outside the hotel & blue waters island. It’s hard to recommend a hotel with out knowing budget, kids, what you want to do.

We’ve been a couple of times (in October though). Stayed at The Fairmont and the Rixos. We really enjoyed it. Loads for kids to do and a great choice of restaurants. My sister goes every New Year and loves it too. Guaranteed (pretty much) good weather!
It’s pricey where you’re there though

I think it's still pretty hot out there all yr round. Nephew lives there SIL finds it too hot to visit in summer but says it's lovely and warm at Christmas

JBR is the best place to be. Get a hotel there, go down to the beach and there are fireworks on blue water island, then at the beach plus depending on where you are you can see them off the palm too. You could also get an air BnB with sea views and see them from the balcony rather than meander the crowds.

It is worth doing at least once.
The rest of the Christmas atmosphere is naff. Brunches are expensive and not worth it. Not worth going to the Burj Khalifa as people are crowded together like crazy and transport links aren’t as readily available on NYs.
