In-law-in-law

DP's brother is my brother-in-law. So what is DP's brother's wife? Is she my sister-in-law, my sister-in-law-in-law, or just Carol?

(Relatedly: Friends of ours who are not married told us they were going for Xmas to her parents, aka "The outlaws". Maybe everyone says that but I hadn't heard of it, and I found it quite amusing.)

She's your SIL.

Your in-laws spouse is also your in-law.

My fellow brother in law, who married my husband's sister, and I, we called ourselves the outlaws. God knows we never really felt a part of the family!

Sister-in-law.

I just call her my sister in law.

so is your husband's brother's wife's sister's husband's sister's husband's sister also your sister-in-law?😄

(they don't have this problem in China...)
