I’m looking at the vast expanse of tiles, muddy paw print in the hall and the aftermath of a family Christmas in the kitchen.

I’ve seen there are now many hard floor cleaners like hoovers but for hard floors!? I’m a bit confused. Some are steam and some are not.

if you have one is it as easy as hoovering and will I love it?!

I used to have an old steam mop but that was hard work for a large floor.

I shall go and dust off the mop bucket again in the meantime

My carpet/rug cleaner does hard floors but not very well. It leaves it too wet (despite the suction drying function) and you can't use hot enough water in it. Plus, the issue of having to move the plug around to accommodate the cable length. A faff to set up and put away, it's just a pain in the arse. It's much easier to use the mop bucket with hot, soapy water, it's much easier to control the 'wetness', picks up way more dirt and I can chuck the microfibre mop head in the wash after. Sometimes the old ways are the best.
