Ds7 is staying over at grandmas tomorrow we have a full day from 11am.

What would you do on New year's Day?

DP recently been in hospital so walks are limited to 1 hour max and trying to lose weight so not eating out.

Without more info I'll suggest you do what I do:
Google: events+your city name+date

Try and enjoy being together, even if just play game/watching TV/film. If not, do you have a pub within walking distance just for one drink, or somewhere nice to drive to for some fresh air views.
