Claimed to be superior and rammed full of polyphenols like no other. Anyone use it can recommend, or otherwise?

If staying alive and living healthily depended on £50 bottles of olive oil, 99% of humanity would have died out long ago.

(And I speak as someone who uses gallons of olive oil, for everything.)

That is ridiculously expensive.

How is that specific olive oil so much better than any other organic single farm Tuscan olive oil? Which also tend to be expensive but not £50 a bottle expensive.

AnnaMagnani the advertising suggests it's produced from olive trees grown near volcanoes which ramps up the polyphenol count. Agree cost is over the top. Do you have a particular olive oil you'd recommend?

I am currently working my way through a bottle of the governor, a gift from a generous friend, which is the only proven cancer fighting olive oil and also delicious

Merriedy · 02/01/2026 13:08

LinkedinLovely how does it claim to fight cancer?

Haven’t used it but came across an advert so looked it up and found this review, which is pretty damning:

Check out the comments too - it seems that this is just one extremely expensive product sold by the same person.

The problem with Ancient Roots olive oil

Sold as an Origins Diet product, Dr Sarah Brewer has advertised Ancient Roots olive oil but we have numerous issues with the product.

I wouldn't spend that much on a bottle of olive oil.

I do use olive oil for light frying and extra virgin olive oil for drizzling extracted by mechanical means, but they're not organic (budget!) and make no wild claims.

TheApocalypticiansApprentice · 09/01/2026 09:22

Oh, I might well spend that on a bottle of olive oil, just as I might spend stupid money on a bottle of wine or whisky, or any rare or carefully crafted foodstuff - out of curiosity and interest; because I want to taste and enjoy it. Not because someone makes outlandish claims of miracle working on its part.

Yes I use Ancient Roots olive oil, and yes its expensive, but up to now its the only thing that is easing my osteoarthritis in my knee. I have almost used one full bottle and find amazingly that my knee is actually feeling much better. I have tried various seeming remedies that claim to try to ease the pain, and do still use some that claim to alleviate this problem, bamboo support knee sleeve, turmeric oil ( as a massage) a grounding sheet, but up to now nothing has had the desired affect, but after taking this oil for a few weeks I now notice a difference . I had not been able to walk for long before my knee was painful and that affected my back, and also had to take 2 paracetamol before walking. This last week i have done two walks in one day ( no tablets) and amazingly realise that my knee has been fine with no problems, which is brilliant, so yes its expensive but for me its works very well where I want it to .

I achieved the same result with my arthritic knees and hips (and much more in terms of health benefits) by:

  • cutting carbohydrates completely from my diet and
  • changing my low sofa (seat inclined back, squishy seat cushions) for a day bed (seat surface 3" higher with level, firmer cushioning) and
  • getting a better leg-rest (old fashioned thing that works perfectly).
I only mention this because I wonder if you changed anything else at the same time that might have improved your knee?
