Forgot to scan Nectar card

Was in a rush this morning and completely forgot to scan my nectar card in sainsburys, only realised on the way home as I was wondering why it was so expensive.

Have tried to do a search but all I can find is that you can have the points added if you have your receipt which I do. What about the price difference though? Does anyone know if you can get a refund for the difference or have I made a very expensive mistake?! (It was a big shop!)

No you can’t get a refund for the difference if you forgot to scan your card.

if you have your receipt it’s super easy they can do the refund at the self serve desk

I can’t confirm either way but I’d go and give it a punt. Worst case at least you’ll get the points.

I would bring my receipt and card to customer service and ask. Nothing ventured, nothing gained!

I doubt their tills are that clever to be able to refund it all and then scan it out again at the reduced price.
the whole thing is such a con. They inflate the price to make you feel you get a “discount” being a nectar member, when that should have been the proper price anyway!

The terms and conditions say they can’t be applied retrospectively - see point 8 https://www.nectar.com/about/privacy-and-legal/nectar-prices#:~:text=If%20you%20do%20not%20unlock,will%20be%20applied%20at%20checkout.

This happened to me the other day. I took the items back to the customer service desk with the receipt, they scanned them back through then scanned the Nectar card and refunded the difference. But it was only for 6 items; I'd imagine they would need to actually see the items to scan them back through, so not really possible if you've done a big shop 😐
