Torvill and Dean are to receive New Year Honours!

I'm really pleased for them, their achievements in skating were very much down to sheer graft when they were young, juggling their training and competitions with full-time jobs until they were able to get a grant from Nottingham Council.

Even in their 60s, they still skate with grace and beauty and have brought pleasure to many over the years, me included.

It's great to see honours going to people who deserve them.

I agree I think they are a great example of two people who worked incredibly hard and still do. I saw their tour and they were brilliant

About time too..Was only a teenager when they won gold and didn't really appreciate just how bloody good they are.

I agree with you about some of the other awards. None for politicians for example.

However, congratulations to them both.

I agree it's long overdue, but hopefully nice for them that it should come as a crowning moment just as they retire from professional skating.

I hope the honours might prompt a re-show of the TV drama from a few years ago based on their early lives and rise to fame, the one that starred Dean Andrews as Christopher's father - I really enjoyed that.
