Teeth whitening

I’ve noticed my teeth becoming more discoloured in the last couple of years, thanks to my love of coffee, tea and red wine no doubt! I’d like to get them whitened but I’m nervous about long term sensitivity. I did ask the dentist about this and they said can’t predict as of course everyone reacts differently, I thought at least they were honest and not doing a hard sell (experienced from other dentists). So before I go ahead, I’m keen to hear of others experiences, keeping in mind my experience might be entirely different.

would be interested to know about getting it done in the chair versus the take home teeth guards and for those who have experienced sensitivity, how bad and how long from treatment did you feel pain? Would you do it again? I was going to look at alternatives from the dental process but as far as I have read, it isn’t really worth it but open to suggestions there too

I paid for teeth whitening at the dentist. I managed to get a half-price offer, so it cost me £200. Honestly, it's one of the best things I've done for my appearance: my teeth look cleaner without that unnatural brightness that you sometimes see with veneers. If the gel makes your teeth temporarily more sensitive, tell the dentist and they can give you a different dose. This sorted the problem for me. I haven't had any longterm sensitivity.

I only use the mouth guard and gel once or twice a year now. I pay £20 a time for the syringe of gel. And the dentist said my teeth won't ever revert to their former state even if I don't use the gel again.

In case it wasn't clear, I used the take-home mouth guards.

Hope it all goes well, @IndigoBluey. I'm sure you won't regret it. The only drawback I've found is that I can't help noticing when people's teeth would benefit from whitening 😀.
