After divorce what title do you use?

Some companies are up to date and aren't forcing me to have a title but some aren't and are. I'm not married so no to Mrs, I'm too old to be Miss, not convinced on Ms but seems to be the only option.

What do you use?

Ms because Mrs denotes a married woman and once I was divorced I wasn’t one 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ms maiden name.
I would much rather have no title. People aren’t meant to know your married status if you use Ms and I like that.
I think people assume Miss = unmarried and Mrs = married. My marital status is not relevant to anything I do apart from dating.

That my thought. I hate how men have Mr and it tells no one if they are single, married, divorced and widowed but women have had to be branded.

I use Miss. I don’t see why not to.

I don't want to be Mrs as it just reminds me I married a twat.

I feel weird about Ms like I'm making a point or something.

I am also changing my surname but that's taking longer to come through than I expected or I'd like. I just thought maybe Mrs New Surname would be okay but actually, I don't want to be Mrs either.

The point you're making is that you're an adult woman and your marital status is none of anyone's business. It's quite a good point in my opinion.

That's what Ms is for! You're not someone who thinks it's for divorced women are you?!

Dr. or Ms. Occ Mrs for things that don’t matter or would be hard to change

Errolwasahero · 29/12/2025 20:52

I am of the opinion that all women should be Ms. As opposed to Mr.

Regardless of fucking marital fucking status.

Good! I've heard that from some annoying people. I even got stuck on a form once because I couldn't proceed with Ms and 'no previous surname' because the form had been programmed that Ms MUST mean a woman was both divorced and had changed her name. Can't remember what it was for but I didn't complete the form.

WarmGreyHare · 29/12/2025 20:54

I'm unmarried but have always picked Ms as Miss always made me feel like 'miss bun the bakers daughter ' or something. Weirdly frilly and juvenile.
Or possibly spinster esq.
I don't feel my name should have to announce my marital status to strangers, its a shame we don't have a better option, but for now Ms is the best I have

BlondeFool · 29/12/2025 20:56

Ms. I like it

FollowSpot · 29/12/2025 20:57

I’ve used Ms since I was 14 irrespective of my marital status

thetallfairy · 29/12/2025 20:58

Always loved being able to use Dr 🤣🤣🤣

Comes in very handy

ISeeYouHere · 29/12/2025 20:58

My mum uses “The First Mrs C” to pull rank on my step mum as they both have the same last name now (in a funny way though, they do get on I promise!).

VWT7 · 29/12/2025 21:00

I would dearly love to use the title Mistress…

Blarn · 29/12/2025 21:00

Also Ms. I'm not divorced but I used Ms before I was married and Ms now I am. If i ever get divorced I will be Ms. Just like dh has always used Mr.

topsecretcyclist · 29/12/2025 21:07

I decided on a whim when I ordered some furniture last year that I didn't want to be Mrs anymore. Nor did I want to be Ms or Miss. Luckily the options had Prefer not to say. Great. Except then I got emails to Prefer Not To Say Smith (not my real surname) or None Smith. 🤦‍♀️😂
I will go back to using Mrs.
At least my new bank account gave me to option of just using my first and surname on my debit card.

ZeusandClio · 29/12/2025 19:58

Ms - before, during and after marriage. We don't ask men to differentiate between Master and Mister anymore and only use Mr, so we should only use Ms for women. 🤷‍♀️ I'm 55 and have only ever used Ms as a single, married and divorced woman.

Ditto. Been Ms as long as i can remember. I was never Mrs despite being married 25 years and I’m still Ms now I'm divorced.

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 29/12/2025 21:21

Im married and Mrs but use my maiden name

Globules · 29/12/2025 21:23

I went back to my maiden name and went back to Miss.

Ms sounds far too meh to me.

Isn't it ridiculous that we're having to have this conversation? Why don't women have a generic term like men?

We do, it's Ms

wendywoopywoo222 · 29/12/2025 21:54

I’m 60 and a Miss. I didn’t change my
name when I married and still used Miss.

I didn’t know there was an age limit. I will always be Miss.

Notmyreality · 29/12/2025 21:55

M’lady
