Mirena Coil Issues

Just after advice please...

DD had the mirena put in 4 weeks ago as her gynecologist recommended it for her suspected endometriosis.

All was fine for the 1st week, but the past three weeks she has had increasing crampy pains which escalated to the point of her passing out on the bathroom floor yesterday. She was admitted from A&E to the gynae ward. She has had an ultrasound which has shown the IUD is in the correct place and there are no other issues. The Dr said discomfort is to be expected and it just needs time to settle and if she has it out, all the issues she had it put in for will still be the same so she won't have gained anything. She was discharged with 5 days of mefanamic acid and 7 days of dihydrocodine.

So, my question is please, has anyone had any experience of severe cramping and how long did it last? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel for her?

I should say she has also been bleeding heavily for the past 3 weeks but is very used to this. She knows it can take a long time for her period to settle on it. It's more the debilitating pain she is suffering that she wants an end to.

TIA

Her pain shouldn’t be getting worse.

So infuriating to read that she collapsed from pain and was shrugged off with “it’ll pass”. The mirena coil can cause worsening pain for some women with endometriosis, and that doesn’t resolve.
