Birthday party ideas for 11yo

DS is turning 11 in a couple of months and for the past 2 years he hasn’t had a party (his choice, we did London theatre etc), but this year he would like to do something with a few friends (both boys and girls).

I wondered if anyone could suggest ideas that have gone down well with their DC at this age? Happy to pay up to £200 roughly.

Due to it being winter we are more limited to being indoors so places like Go Ape are not really possible, and DS has had enough of trampoline parks. Cinema and pizza could be an idea but so far I can’t see any new releases scheduled near his birthday for this age, plus his best friend has ADHD and can’t sit still for long at all. I could see it being carnage with an Escape Room so. It keen on that. I don’t want a load of kids in our house either for various reasons.

I’m a bit stumped and DS is being no help.

There's a place near me that have half a dozen alpacas. The owner offers parties where you can take them for a walk, hand feed them then hang out in their paddock for a bit. Space for a picnic lunch/cake too. We went when DS was 10, we took a mix of boys and girls. Worth seeing if there's anything similar in your area, if the best friend could cope with that?

Clip n climb

Laser Tag, if you have one nearby. Fairly short and fun (15-min games) and they're contained within one area.

A few years running around that age I would invite 3 or 4 good friends, we would have a nice meal, go out to the theatre then have a sleepover with snacks and some dvds.

Laser tag, bowling, trampoline park, crazy golf, ninja warrior (although that might might be regional), cinema, swimming, pizza making at Pizza Express or similar. All possible ideas for an 11 year old.

Our 11yos had a roller disco this year.

Go Karting or laser tag.

Gaming party, climbing place or bowling very popular with kids around here at 10/11.

Crazy golf is very popular in out house. Depending on how grown up the 11s are couple of friends to a stret food venue and let them all choose their on food?

We hired a gaming van that parks outside your house & uses your WiFi. They all sit in & play various different PlayStation/ Xbox / VR games. To keep them out of the house bring snacks out to them.

We've also done football parties & things like nerf wars at local leisure centres. Any of these near you?

We hit this exact wall last year with our 11-year-old. They’ve completely outgrown soft play, but the trendy active spots (like trampoline parks or laser tag) can get incredibly expensive, and half of them make you play endless email tennis just to get a basic weekend package quote.
If you want to compare your options without losing your sanity, try checking the partyfind directory. It lets you sort local indoor spaces by age suitability and actually lists the per-head package pricing and inclusions upfront. It’s brilliant for seeing exactly what a venue includes (like food or private room hire) before you waste time reaching out to them.

When I was 10/11, after my Mum banned big birthday parties i would have 4/5 friends over for dinner and cake then we would go to the theatre or cinema etc.

Gdd 11 has had wall climbing, Go Ape! and latest, a trapeze experience party TBH it looked horrendously scary! - but she’s a bit of an adrenaline junkie.
